    Bills Public Address Announcer Arrested

Bills public address annoucer charged with serving minors
By T.J. Pignataro - News Staff Reporter
    Updated: 06/09/08 11:12 PM

John M. Gurtler Jr., the public address announcer for the Buffalo Bills and voice of the Buffalo Bandits lacrosse team, was arrested early Sunday along with his wife and teenage son after they allegedly hosted a large underage post-prom party at the family's Orchard Park home, Orchard Park police reported late Monday.

Gurtler and his wife, Mary, both 54, as well as 18-year-old John M. Gurtler III, were arrested at their Orchard Terrace home about 2 a.m. and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child. They are accused of providing alcohol to people less than 21 years old.

The charge is a misdemeanor that upon conviction can carry a sentence of up to a year in jail.

The Gurtlers were allegedly found to be hosting a party attended by as many as 80 teenagers. Officers reported observing several kegs of beer, as well as more than 150 open containers of alcoholic beverages at the scene. Numerous unopened containers were seized as evidence, police said.

    When will it end?!?

...for some reason I doubt this will take the focus off the Lynch case.

Gurtler has been guilty of stealing money from the Bills for years...he sucks as an announcer. The guy makes too many mistakes per game.

Maybe it's time Wilson had a sit down with the entire organization and told them they were stupid.

How do you think you're NOT getting busted when you're a minor celebrity with 80 drunk teenagers milling around your McMansion?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

We had a similar situation here, and it occurred about one week after a teen was killed DUI after attending one of these.
With that story still in the headlines, the parents provided alcohol at this party.

Though nothing happened, the parents got 27 months each.
This is regarded as very serious stuff in some places.

80 is a bit much. I hope they get the max just for being that stupid..

keep it down to three people & a 12pk, and let them all sleep over.

I still don't see the point of having a legal drinking age of 21. Stupid-ass law.

Over here you have to be 18 years old to be served a drink, or have a drink in a bar. In your own home a parent can give a kid as young as five an alcoholic drink, and this also applies in a restaurant or beer garden where food is being served. Though there is a clause of parental responsibility whereby a child cannot be served sufficient alcohol to cause intoxication, which pretty much translates as half a pint for a 5 year old.

In most states, it is legal to serve your own under age children alcohol.

Seriously, how stupid can you be to have a party and let teenagers who aren't even your own kids drink?!
