Bills D excited about radio communication

It's no secret that the NFL Competition Committee and the league's owners have always kept offense and scoring in mind when tweaking the league's rule book. Big plays and scoring are entertaining, so it's only natural to try and maintain that value for the fan whenever possible.

But with the approval of the new rule that allows one defensive player to have radio communication with the defensive coordinator between plays, Bills head coach Dick Jauron is looking forward to a rule that could level what has been a tilted playing field.

So looks like Poz (and his alternate DiG) will be the generals of the field...that's probably a good sign if Poz is looked at that highly by the coaching staff.

I sure hope it's not McKelvin.

one question: how exactly will this work?

On the offensive side, the QB has the radio and has the green dot on his helmet. Teams don't switch QB's unless there is an injury. But on the defensive side, teams switch in and out of packages and substitute players a lot more often to keep them fresh.

Does this mean that either Poz or DiG has to be on the field for every defensive play if we want to use the radio signal? What happens if there's some sort of odd package or injury situation where they both have to be on the field at the same time?

Only one guy has the receiver.
They can have two helmets, and only use the receiver equipped one when they are the guy.

sometimes the simplest solution is the best one....

The only real issue then is if neither of them are on the field, but in the article Jauron said that whoever has the radio can give the signal to the other players as he's leaving the field, so I guess that's not a big deal.

another question: why werent these things "ready" for OTAs and minicamps? How are they different than the QB's? BS if you ask me.
