Is that really possible? With the exception of reading things on some sites I can't imagine anyone here really knows who these kids are.

That doesn't stop the draft experts in the bills forum.

I think football is different, a lot of us watch college football and we are at least a little familiar with some of the kids drafted. In hockey, we aren't exposed to junior hockey. We can watch the NCAA, but that is about it.

I haven't a clue, but I thought it was pretty funny how the Buff News said the average size of the players were 6'1" and 183 lbs. Let's take Myers out of the equation.

Mike Wilson#4 :snicker: who the Sabres got in the Peca deal from Vancouver when we traded Alexander Mogilny. Not hoping that Myers turns out like Mike Wilson.

Personally I am not sure about the draft

I would have packaged our two R1 picks and sent them to the Coyotes for the No8 pick, swapping our R3 picks and maybe a prospect like Logan Stephenson on the Defence, someone who could immediately be called up from the Pirates considering that Weber and Sekera are likely to be at the HSBC all season.

I would then have drafted the following

R1. Mikkel Boedker W - a speady W who can play down both sides, a great goalscorer and an excellent compliment to Vanek and Pominville. He might be good enough to make the roster from Day1

R2. Jyrki Niemi D - I am shocked he lasted to R3. He'd be a good offensive guy on the defence and could push Sekera as the powerplay specialist in a couple of season. Rated as a late R1 selection

Both of these guys are already playing over in North America.

R3. Evgeni Gratchev C - another guy lauded as a possible R1 selection, the big C would be another guy who might not spend too long at the farm. We shouldn't have been scared off by the problem with bringing over Russians. At 6ft3 he'd be an ideal compliment to the likes of Roy and Gerbe especially as Zagrapan's progression has been slow.

R4b Harri Sateri G - good enough to give the Lightnings former R1 pick Riki Helenius a run for his money for the Finnish national side, Sateri was considered the second best European goalie prospect, and was suggested to be on the R1/R2 boundary. Beyond Ehroth we have little netminding prospects, and Ehroth's small size will always be a risk.

I think the teams fascination with drafting North Americans might have resulted in us avoiding picks who could have quickly made the Sabres and made a quick positive contribution.
