Sorry, but Joe Ferguson should be banned from going within 200 yards of the Hall of Fame.

The idea is ridiculous to me. I grew up in the Joe Ferguson era, and I can't believe we kept him for so long. I can still remember him walking off the field hanging his head, over and over.

He wasn't really a very good quarterback, let alone a Hall of Famer.

no, fergie, doesn't deserve to be in the HOF, that's sorta like saying jeff george deserves to be in the hall of fame (basically similar numbers).

hell... drew bledsoe destroys those numbers and accomplishments.

I started watching the Bills religiously in the early 80s and I loved Joe, but I just don't think he deserves to be in the HOF.

Drew Bledsoe deserves it more than him

I met Joe Ferguson when I was a kid. Great guy.

HOF? Are u kidding? I think he's one of the main reasons we sucked and never could beat Miami.

A good football player but not much of a leader. His accomplishments pale in comparison to other HOF candidates as well as many others who won't be considered either. He's not even close.

Don't know, too young to have watched him play.

No HOF but I always liked Joe.

If only he hadn't played with a bum ankle in the 1980 playoffs. What might have been. If healthy, I'm convinced that would have been our 1st trip to the SB.

Loved those Chuck Knox teams.

From C Mike Montler through Ferguson to Juice.

All we need to know about the guy.

The only Bill that isn't in the HoF that deserves to be there is Andre Reed.

had only one interception in 1976 despite being injured - or is that because he was injured and didnt play in half of the games?

threw 20 TDs four times in career
three playoff appearences - 1-2 record in playoffs and in that one win he threw 4 picks
tied fran tarkenington in 1975 with 25 TDs - tarkenington???? never heard of him
NFL iron man
Threw for almost 30,000 yards in career - as was mentioned, drew bledsoe has more than 44,000 yds

top 5 in passing for a couple times for most of his career - this sentence makes no sense - a couple times, for most of his career....

sorry but no.

To answer the question...no, but I still feel he was a fine QB on a team that was pretty putrid at times.

His first couple of years, all he really had to do is hand off to Simpson, but he did develop into a a pretty accurate passer. He and Kenny Anderson used to remind me of each other.

I read once where Walsh was impressed with Fergy's mechanics, so he drafted a young Notre Dame QB, who reminded him of Ferguson.

Supposedly his cancer is in remission, so that's a good thing.

Not just No .... HELL NO!

The HOF is for special players who go above and beyond to put their team in the position to win football games. Joe was not one of those special players. He was an ok player, a great guy, but not any where near HOF. I can still hear my dad *****ing as I write this! "F'in Fergey!!!"

Still, when Maragi, Manucci, or Kofler stepped in...there was a noticable dropoff.

Joe was a good guy and player, who is on the Bills' Wall of Fame where he definitely belongs. Not a HOFer, though.

I'm not counting people who don't have the 5 years yet. And he is a lock.

I like you're thinking, sniper.
