Rank the 2013 HOF Class in order you'd vote for them

For the sake of this, let's assume Junior Seau retires. That means he would join one of the greatest retirement classes of all-time here in 2008. In five years, they will all be eligible for the Hall of Fame.

So, if you had a HOF vote, what order (1-6) would you vote the following players on your ballot in 2013:

    (alphabetically):
    Larry Allen
    Brett Favre
    Jonathan Ogden
    Warren Sapp
    Junior Seau
    Michael Strahan

Of course, ORDER really doesn't count for anything when the voters vote, just yay or nay, but for this excercise, list your rankings AND REASONS WHY.

(my next NFL Roundtable podcast will have a big debate on it and I'll share my list a son as it airs).

I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of this class as one of the greatest ever, but here's my order:

    1. Brett Favre
    2. Larry Allen
    3. Jonathan Ogden
borderline 1st ballot - Junior Seau
borderline 1st ballot - Michael Strahan
maybe not at all - Warren Sapp

Maybe not the greatest Hall class ever when they (whoever they are) go in. But as far as five (maybe six) players retiring all in the same year?! I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better overall group.

Also, I totally disagree with you about Sapp.

He revolutionized the DT position in this era. The Tampa-2 was created partly because of the things he was able to do from his spot. Sapp had 96.5 sacks. From the DT position that's amazing.

              1. Brett Favre - Best modern day qb
2.Warren Sapp - revolutionized the DT spot
3.Michael Strahan - key anchor to the Giants defense since LT left
4.Junior Seau - Great lb for San Diego but ok in Miami and NE
              5. Jonathan Ogden - tackle who paved the way for Jamal Lewis's 2000 season
6.Larry Allen - was a player for a good team

A player that should be recognized for the HOF in 2013 is Sean Taylor because of how much he change the attitude of safeties and was etched from the Ronnie Lott model.

Re: Rank the 2013 HOF Class in order you'd vote for them

This is tough because you are talking about players that helped define how thier positions would be played in the modern era.

The impact most these guys had on the game is pretty unreal, but here goes:

                  1. Brett Favre, QB - No notes needed, this is a no brainer
                  2. Warren Sapp, DT - Basically defined the pass rushing DT, will be the mold all future DT's are compared to.
                  3. Jonathan Ogden, OT - Perhaps the best LT ever, or at least in that class. An absolute wall.
                  4. Michael Strahan, DE - Outside of Bruce and Reggie hes probably one of if not the best pass rusher most consistently the NFL has seen. Guy was in double digits like every year.
                  5. Junior Seau, LB - Again we are talking about a guy who defined the LB spot in the modern era, from start to finish every game he was always on.
                  6. Larry Allen, OL - Certainly last but not least, again another guy who was as punishing as any on the OL.

Tough to rank these cause the argument could be made for any of them.

You also have to consider players that have been eligable before. It took Art Monk 15 years to get in, the same could happen to Andre Reed.
