    Charlie Rogers' motion denied

Dolphins | Rogers Motion Denied - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
4:24 PT: Updating previous reports, the Sun-Sentinel reports Miami Dolphins WR/KR Charlie Rogers asked to be entered into a pretrial intervention program for first-time offenders Monday, but Middlesex County assistant prosecutor Michael Weis denied the motion. Weis said if Rogers would have entered the program and completed it, the charges would have been dismissed. However, he denied the motion “because of the nature of the offenses.” Rogers has appealed the decision to the court, and has another hearing on the matter on May 23.

Dolphins' Rogers barred from pretrial program

Dolphins kick returner Charlie Rogers was denied in his attempt to enter a program that could have led to the dismissal of charges against him stemming from a confrontation with police last July.

Rogers, 26, faces six charges, including aggravated assault for causing bodily injury to a police officer. At a pretrial conference Monday, Rogers asked to enter a pretrial intervention program for first-time offenders, Middlesex (N.J.) County assistant prosecutor Michael Weiss said. If the program, a type of probation, is completed, the charges are dismissed, Weiss said.
