    Terms of the Butler deal

    Butler pact detailed
By Mark Gaughan NEWS SPORTS REPORTER
The Buffalo Bills have locked up starting right guard Brad Butler for the next five seasons, through 2012.

Terms of the new contract extension Butler signed Wednesday became available Friday. Butler’s old deal ran through 2009. The new deal extends his contract for three additional years and includes $8.8 million in new money, according to league sources. That’s an average of $2.9 million on the three-year extension.

Counting the full five years he’s under contract, he will average just about $2 million a year.

once we get a new center, we have the entire OL locked up for at least the next 3 years, and dock, walker, and butler all for 5.

Re-upping these guys before they get to their contract year, and continuing to extend a lot of these young guys goes a very long way in helping the bigger-names like Evans and Crowell sign new deals.

They see the commitment being made and it makes it a much easier choice to stay in a Bills uniform.

Butler is a moron, he could have gotten a lot more on the open market next year.

He was not on the open market next year.

Under the terms of his original deal, Butler was due to make $445,000 this year and $530,000 next year.

If we get Peters reworked, we'll have just about our whole O-line together for the next 5 years!

                That's great news.

no doubt that it's great news. But Butler is screwing himself.

So if Butler is extended with two years left, no reason not to extend Peters too

Well you see, Peters wants 6 million a year more. And Peters has three years left.

We also have more immediate needs. Crowell, and Evans. When Peters has only two years left (next offseason), I'm all for it.
