I've long been thinking about putting together an article about what my job is like (and I still might), but for now, I stumbled across an interesting pair of articles on ESPN.com that do this job for me. They were written by an ex-GM and sum up my experiences fairly accurately (although with a few subtle differences due to the differences in the way our GM does things). One notable difference is we regularly bet on each of the first round picks to pass the time (just $1 per pick) on draft day… in the 2nd round it falls to quarters, then nickels the rest of the way… last year I cleared $15
The first (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfldraft/columnist?id=1541883) article talks a bit about the scouting process (or at least the last 4 months of it), and nails my last four months fairly accurately.
The second (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfldraft/columnist?id=1542074) article does a good job summing up my draft day.
