    Cubs key to Bills’ success

Monday, June 30, 2008 | Posted by Anthony Bialy

These Buffalo Bills haven’t been around long. It has nothing to do with the franchise being short of its golden anniversary and everything to do with the youthful nature of its athletes. A majority of Buffalo’s players are still in the initial stages of their careers, and the fact that most remember Marv Levy as their recent general manager while barely being able to personally recall his time as a previous generation’s Hall of Fame coach is a good sign for a team that’s hoping to be on the climb.

Any discussion about the current Bills who have spent a decade in the league is going to be short: There’s exactly one. The longest-serving player on the roster is reserve utility lineman Jason Whittle with 10 seasons on his resume; the journeyman will be the only guy on the roster with over a decade of experience after 2008.

On top of that, two of their three longest-tenured players aren’t likely to wear out soon, as the extent of the contact they usually face ends with each man’s kicking foot touching the ball. The 31-year-old Rian Lindell is on the verge of his ninth campaign at a position where most can play until they begin hiking their uniform pants up to their rib cages...............

I think a lot of posters underestimate the importance of the Bills' youth, in that a lot of our second and third year guys will really be hitting their stride this year.

We don't necessarily have to bring in a ton of new players to improve. With experience and maturity, a number of our young players will be better this year than last, which should make us an improved team.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

We are most certainly a young team that is hungry for success. Also with that youth comes plenty of speed, but a lack of inexperience. But history has shown us that isn't always a bad thing.

Remember the young and inexperienced Cowboys teams of the early 90's going up against the veteran Bills? Unfortunately we all know how that turned out and can only hope for similar success.

I think we underestimate the maximum potential of our younger players. Hell, we're all assuming that these guys get BETTER and grow. Not all players automatically get better by just being a football player longer. Some just aren't cut out to be anything good at the NFL level...take a look at Youboty. Luckily enough we've found some very good players we got from the UFA pool like Greer, Peters, DiGi, Wilson...but we've also got our share of bums we've picked up. (Fowler, Oline backups, Royal)

We found them is spreading to much credit around, the coaches of the Bills found them and realized what they have. Let's hope they can apply it on the field to bring us to a a better place.
