he's older but certainly more proven than Orpik, and Paetsch, Sekera and Weber could learn a lot from him.

Get it done.

I have a good feeling about this one

He been the captain of two different teams as well. That leadership is sometimes hard to find.

yeah especially when you toss 3 captains to the curb in past 2 years.

I would love this move, I just hope Darcy can convince Larry and Tom to cough up some money.

THATHURMANATOR

I can't see him getting as much as Orpik

RockStar36

Based on the stats I looked at it appears that he was Spacek's teammate in Edmonton the year they took a run at the cup.

THATHURMANATOR
07-03-2008, 01:45 PM
That is a guarantee RS.

The guy captained one of the biggest turnarounds in NHL history. And he was on a WAY overachieving Oilers team that went to the finals. He's got a case for a bigger contract than Orpik.

Yes but age is not on his side. I agree with what you are saying just think he will command and get less. I may easily be wrong

it would be nice to go back to consistent captains.

I didn't mind Briere and Drury sharing the C and the A because it was a case of two guys deserving it equally.

I hated last year's month-by-month arrangement because it was a case of no one standing out as a leader.

I don't like rotating captains at all. Just pick one and be done with it.

he's getting up there in years but just his presence will make our defense better and help a lot of the younger players out. he's the veteran defenseman this team sorely lacks

RUMOUR: Jason Smith has narrowed it down to two teams, we are told. BUFFALO or OTTAWA. Buffalo as it stands has the higher offer.

One Philly reporter described why they aren't keeping him is because
"He skates like he has boulders in his skates" and "He moves at the speed of a glacier"

Not exactly the kind of player I want on my team.

ill take an experienced blueliner that brings leadership and will mentor the younger guys.

he's older but its also the same guy that played through the playoffs with both shoulders dislocated in edmonton.

There is a RUMOR (And I stress that word) that Smith failed his physical.

I have no link, just something I heard.
