All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

I get the feeling that some players are taking much less to stay in Pittsburgh because of the core they have built. It seems like they are doing things the right way for the most part.
Fleury played out of his mind in the playoffs. Before the playoffs and anytime in the past I would have gladly said Fleury is overrated and not that good. He pretty much stepped up and shut me up once the playoffs hit.
Fleury and Miller are both average middle of the pack NHL goaltenders...Fleury inflated his value because of his playoff performance. But still took a hometown discount because like Lechter said, as long as Pittsburgh keeps it's core...Crosby, Malkin, Orpik...the rest can be pretty much interchangeable and they'll still be competitive.

If that makes sense.
The playoffs is where a goalie's true value is.
I agree that seeing a team aggressively lock up its best players probably motivated him to take a discount.
