View Full Version : Sabres cap as of 7/6

Right now the Sabres have 45.623 million on the cap. Figuring they are going to 50 million, that leaves 4.4 million to spend.

Further figure that Paille will cost about 2 million (dependant on the length of the deal) and Mac will be cheap, about 500,000 that leaves 1.9 to spend (Without making any subtractions).

I would not spend much more than 1.5 on Smith, due to his age and injuries so that would eat up most of the remaining amount.

Thoughts? It does look like there will be one more signing.

Thoughts? I think there is still 6.7 million left after that under the NHL cap

Very observant.

I think we all know the Sabres, like many teams, will not spend right up to the cap.

So if they get Pommenville and Miller to sign an extended contract, how does that play into this coming seasons cap? Unless it begins at the end of the current contract. Geez, 9.5 this year between Max, Connolly and Kotalik.

An extension to an already signed player would not be applied until next year's cap.

So let's say Max, Connolly and Kotalik aren't back next year, that's 9.5 mil to compensate Miller, Pommenville, Spacek, Kaleta and Stafford.

Hecht will have to be redone as well as Lydman, Tallinder and Paetsch

The deals in the NHL can't be re-done.

And 9.5 won't compensate for Miller, Pomminvill, Spacek, Kaleta and Stafford. It won't even take care of Miller and Pomminville.

I see Miller getting 7 a year and Poms at 4.5.

Fleury just got 5 million per and Lundquist is just over 6. Miller will not get 7, unless he gets way overpaid.

Pomminville is looking at 5.5 million +, especially if he will be fulltime captain.

Miller should get money about equal to Lundquist.

How can 9.5 not take care of even Miller and Pomminville? Are they going to get 4.5 mil extra next year? :idunno:

Right now Miller is at 2.66 and Pominville is right around a million.

Figure 5 - 5.5 for Miller (say 2.5 more) and 5.5 for Pominville (4.5 more), so taking this years salaries into account that would take care of it. (I had left out the current salaries).

I read Miller is at 3.5 and Pomm is at 1.375 so if miller gets 5.5 and Pomm gets 5.5, that still leaves roughly 4 mil most will go to Spacek. And still the rest haven't been even touched. Next season seems worse than last year.

Dr. Lecter

Miller's salary is 3.5, but his cap hit is 2.667. Poms salary is 1.375, but his cap hit is 1.033.

He has to get higher. Agents are not stupid. They will look AHEAD to what the player will get as an UFA (as is the case with Miller). Look at what Campbell got as an UFA. Miller will get at least $7 mil/year.

Hecht is locked in for the next 4 years.

If we re-sign Paetsch I'll be pissed, he's a career AHLer.

The jury is out on Lydman and Tallinder, we'll see if they return to form. Either way they have 2 years left on their contracts so we have a while to wait.

Miller and Pominville are the only ones we have to worry about after this season, and hopefully both will have new deals before the start of this one.

Remember, NHL contracts are guarenteed.

Chicago has got to be screwed.

Toews, Kane, Havlat, Byfuglien and Lang all expecting new contracts soon plus another 10+ prospects on top of the 7million dollar signing of Campbell... Darcy please throw a offersheet their way, that team would be so ****ed! Lol.

Miller won't get 7. He has no case to do so.

You are over-valuing his worth.

 You may not want him to, but for him to opt out of FA, he will have to get a contract similar to what Lundqvist got. If he doesn't...you might as well say good bye now.

I say 6.5 is reasonable.

But damn

Vanek at 7
Poms at 5
Roy at 4.5
Miller 6.5

That's almost half of our intended cap expenditures:rrich:

If we lose Miller, whether you think he is a top tier goaltender or not.... in Buffalo, that will be the final straw. Buildings will burn, people will burn.
