Bills rookie McKelvin feeling right at home

Rookies often have trouble adjusting to a new team, new city, new system and new coaches. Not Leodis McKelvin. He feels right at home with the Buffalo Bills, thanks to a teammate's welcoming gesture.
McKelvin is staying with Donte Whitner, the Bills' starting strong safety. The living arrangement is temporary, until the rookie cornerback finds his own place. But Whitner's decision to roll out the welcome mat speaks volumes about his role as a team leader and how seriously he takes it.

And how many stories do we read about players getting in trouble off the field? Whitner believes close bonds between teammates can help avoid that.

"I'm not saying that young guys will never get in trouble if they have vets looking after them," says Whitner. "But having a support system helps. Seeing older guys do the right thing has a tendency to rub off."
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't repeat myself.

Maybe it's helping. When I first heard that Clark was going to subpoena James Hardy, because allegedly he was in Lynch's car that early morning instead of home sleeping before the next day's trip to Canton, I started to think that Hardy just wasn't getting it. But it turned out that he was wasn't even in the car and Lynch and Johnson (he should have known better) went to his place the night before to get their hair braided, which shows you the level of desperation of the DA at that time. I have to think that the alleged gun incident made Whitner take Hardy under his wing as well.

Give McKelvin time. I remember when Tim Duncan entered the NBA. He could talk no better than McKelvin. He was in an Edge gel commercial with David Robinson, and I was thinking to myself "what the frick is he saying?" Then several months later, they re-shot the commercial and he was actually intelligible, and I chuckled to myself thinking that even they (Gillette) knew it was a problem and had to spend more money to fix it.

The fact that people still feel the need to bring up McKelvin's dialect is troubling. He is a Bills player for ****s sake. Get over it if you didn't like the pick or whatever the problem is.

It was more of a general statement as you aren't the only one that occasionally brings it up. As for the fact that you think I am stalking you is hilarious. You just tend to stick out like a sore thumb.

I really like the role Whitner has taken on this team. Even with his production not being up to par with a #8 draft pick, his leadership is unprecedented.

                            As do you.

Making fun of his speaking has nothing to do with the pick.

Always call um like I see um.

                            Bills player or not.

you mean we're not allowed to have fun with it? People make fun of the fact that JP looks like the waterboy and having a squeeky voice. I don't see you *****ing about it and I too have fun with it.
