5:23 PT: Updating previous reports, the Kansas City Star reports the Kansas City Chiefs’ initial offer to the Arizona Cardinals for RB Thomas Jones was turned down, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try again. What the Chiefs offered in the deal was unknown.

The Arizona Cardinals rejected the Chiefs' offer for running back Thomas Jones, but that doesn't necessarily mean trade talks are dead.

"They might listen to another scenario," Chiefs president/general manager Carl Peterson said. "We'll continue to talk with them. Maybe something happens, and maybe it doesn't."

What the Chiefs offered for Jones is unclear. Whatever it was, it's difficult to picture the Cardinals refusing a sweetened proposal. Jones is a spare part in Arizona now that the Cardinals have Emmitt Smith and Marcel Shipp at halfback.

"For the right value, they would say goodbye to him," Peterson said. "We're continuing to talk about it. It could possibly come down to a draft-day decision. It could also be something that happens after the draft. We might acquire a running back in the draft that we're pleased with. That would put this in a holding pattern."...more (http://www.twincities.com/mld/kansascity/sports/5692219.htm)
