    Bears-Pats talking about draft switcheroo

Patriots | Talking With Bears About Moving Up - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
4:44 PT: Updating previous reports, the Boston Herald reports the New England Patriots have held discussions with the Chicago Bears about moving up to the No. 4 spot in the NFL Draft, according to sources. The Patriots seem willing to give up their two first-round draft picks in exchange for the No. 4 pick, but they also want additional considerations in the deal. Apparently, the Patriots asked for the Bears’ second-round pick in addition to their first rounder, which the Bears turned down. The Patriots want to move up to that spot to select Kentucky DT Dewayne Robertson.

The Bears want to trade down to 8 or so where they could still get Jordan Gross. 14 may be too far down. If they can't make a deal, I wouldn't be surprised if they take him at 4.

To move up 10 spots it will cost the Pats their first and there is no way they get Chicago's 2nd in the deal...a 4th is a stretch...

Pats look to go fourth: Eye Bears deal to get Robertson

Armed with 13 draft picks, including two first-rounders, and a gaping hole on the defensive line, the Patriots have been involved in trade talks with the Chicago Bears about acquiring the fourth pick in this weekend's draft, according to sources.

The object of the Pats' affection? Kentucky defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson.

``I know they love him,'' said one source close to the situation. ``(The Pats) have said if they can, they're going to try and do it.''

The Pats are apparently willing to give up both of their first-round selections (Nos. 14 and 19) in exchange for Chicago's pick - providing the Bears sweeten the pot with additional considerations. So far, those considerations are the stumbling block. CBSportsline.com reported yesterday that coach Bill Belichick asked for Chicago's second-round pick (No. 35 overall) in addition to their first-rounder, a proposal that was rejected by Bears general manager Jerry Angelo.
