Question #12: Will Trent Edwards excel?
by Chris Brown, Lead Journalist Last Updated: 7/8/2008 12:10 PM ET

The believers say he is remarkably accurate, a quick decision maker and a definitive leader. The naysayers will state that he struggles in poor weather and does not have a strong enough arm. Those who sit on both sides of that argument on Trent Edwardshttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?NEWS_ID=6203#) will undoubtedly debate it all the more this fall as he enters training camp as Buffalo's starting quarterback.

But the question is will Edwards excel as the entrenched starter just a year removed from a Bills attack that ranked 30th in the league?

One thing that's certain is Edwards has done everything he can to ensure his own success, and by association Buffalo's offense, this offseason...........

i hope he does. however, going into last year i had no idea why the bills took a QB when jp was finally showing life. and i felt like last year he would put everything to rest.

i feel the same way about trent for this year. but who knows, perhaps he's going to struggle to the point that we'll all give up on him.

Because it was all a facade - Regardless of the '11th overall QB rating' JP wasn't showing life and the front office and coaching staff realized that, especially against good teams down the stretch when a postseason birth was on the line.

Hey, he's our QB, of course I want him to succeed. As should everyone else. This isn't JP vs. TE anymore, it's the Bills vs. the rest of the NFL. Like my sig says, "PLEASE DONT SUCK!!!" I really hope he plays well, but I also know he's young and I don't expect him to put up huge numbers but I do expect him to do what he's lauded for, which is being smart, accurate and not making dumb throws and turning the ball over.
