Season tickets sales for the Bills have been huge. So far, the third best in the teams history behind 1991 and 1992. Those years were coming off Super Bowl appearances.

The highest season ticket total in franchise history is 57,132 in 1992 and the second highest total in team history is 54,604 in 1991.

So what's up?

Marc Honan, Senior Vice-President Marketing and Broadcasting says, "First, I think it's optimism. I think people are really excited about the team we have and they're excited about our schedule this season and secondly is our regionalization efforts. We've worked very hard and it's been a process in Rochester and Western New York, Southern Ontario and Toronto."

Training camp has been in Rochester since 1999.

The team will play one, preseason and one, regular season game in Toronto this year. And although the Bills don't have hard numbers, they believe the team is becoming more popular outside the immediate area and fans in Rochester and Canada are buying more season tickets.

2 On Your Side's Kristin Donnelly asks, "Do you think part of this is people hear about the game in Toronto and are scared?"

"That's a question that's comes up several times and I think it's optimism and regionalization that are really the two primary factors," says Honan.

There was a lot of fanfare when the Bills' Toronto games were announced this winter. Still, the Bills' two games in Toronto aren't sold out yet according to a Toronto Newspaper.

The National Post reported Rogers Communications officials tried to downplay that at a news conference last week.

The paper quoted Rogers' Vice-Chairman Phil Lind.

"The demand is very, very good," he told the National Post, "there are still some seats. But even when this thing is sold out to the brim, we'll still continue to promote it.

The game in Toronto is also making this years season tickets cheaper because fans are only buying eight games. The Bills also announced Thursday that a limited number of individual game tickets will go on sale to Bills' Backers fan club members online Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. Any remaining tickets after the Bills' Backers pre-sale will be made available to the public through Ticketmaster beginning at 12 noon Thursday, August 21, 2008.
