"Real deal? Web site gives sneak peek at uniforms

The Falcons are ready to break out their new threads today, but some impatient fans think they've already gotten a peek.


Trace Mashburn posted this jersey on his fan site, falconsroost.com, saying it was part of the new Falcons uniform to be unveiled officially today. Falcons officials won't confirm or deny that it's the real thing.





The team has treated the new look (its first since 1990) like your basic state secret. But a fan Web site, www.falconsroost.com, this week posted a photo which is purported to be of the new home jersey.

The site's owner, Trace Mashburn, says the image came from an NFL apparel Web site, which put the image up last weekend. It mysteriously disappeared after a couple of days, replaced by the current jersey.

The Falcons refused to say whether the jersey posted on Mashburn's site was the real deal.

"Obviously there is a lot of excitement and anticipation," said Falcons spokesman Aaron Salkin. "I can't speak for the validity of everything that you see on the Internet."

Mashburn says reaction to the jersey among visitors to his Web site was mixed. Most didn't embrace the shirt as readily as they did the team's new logo, which was unveiled last month. Mashburn is in that category.

"If you ask me, it looks a little like a bowling shirt," he said.

Fans can get a glimpse at the complete new look -- helmets and road uniforms included -- modeled by Mike Vick, Keith Brooking, Peerless Price and others at the Mall of Georgia at 1 p.m. today."

I like the addition of the red but those jerseys, along with the helmets seen earlier, are just bad...looks worse than NFLE and some of the Arena league unis...I'd be embarrassed.

Wow... Bowling shirts to be sure... One more thing for Peerless to feel bad about, Vick didn't show up to the first minicamp... It might be voluntary, but that is bad form for the "supposed" leader of the Falcons.

Its all about money, do you know how many Vick jerseys they sell. Second only to Urlacher, and i dont see the bears changing their jerseys anytime soon.
