Russ on Peters: "A roadmap of silence"

Bills not sure if LT Peters will report to camp
By JOHN WAWROW, AP Sports Writer
PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP)—The Buffalo Bills have had very little contact with Jason Peters in the past few months regarding his contract dispute, and aren’t sure if the Pro Bowl left tackle will report for the start of training camp on Friday.

“To be very honest with you, it’s truly been a roadmap of silence to date,” chief operating officer Russ Brandon said Thursday, as Bills players began arriving at the team’s training camp headquarters in suburban Rochester. “We expect Jason to be here to honor his commitment to the organization because we made a substantial commitment to him two years ago.”

Brandon said he’s not sure whether Peters will report or elect to continue holding out for a new deal after the player was fined $8,638 for missing the team’s two mandatory minicamp practices last month. Peters risks an even heftier fine of more than $15,000 for each day he misses training camp.

Ooohh scary, $8,638 sounds like GW trying to scare Sadaam.
They will end up paying Peters a bit less than what he wants, if they don't, they're morons.
And if any Buffalo fans don't want a pro bowl LT to make what he deserves because he signed a contract (ever hear of Bruce Smith) then you are short sited and jealous.
You can't trade, draft, buy, barely find a decent LT. Typical Buffalo fashion, let the best players go, then wonder why we never win anything.

They don't have a choice.. If they want to have a chance to win this year, they will pay Peters what he's earned and deserves, period.

If Chambers start, you can add another year to the playoff-less run right now.. Nobody on this team is more valuable than Peters, nobody. Not even one.

"Brandon confirmed for Buffalobills.com that if Peters is a holdout come 12:01 am Friday and is not on the field for the first practice that he will be fined. The maximum daily fine allowed by the NFL is just over $15 thousand."

Jason Peters has been the franchise LT that the Bills have been searching for for about the last ten years. He is the most important young player on this team that needs to be signed long term.

If RW is serious about winning he will open up his pockets. He's already made a killing with the Toronto deal and the rest of the Bills home games are virtually sold out in July. With the cap room that the Bills have, now is the time to lock up Peters until he's in his thirties.
