As midnight passed Thursday in the east, Carson Palmer waited out in Los Angeles to get the OK from his agents to board an early morning plane to Cincinnati.
It’s believed he got the call.
Sports Illustrated.com and ESPN.com reported the club had reached an agreement in principle with the USC quarterback, but the sides were reportedly still sifting through the final details as Wednesday became Thursday and head coach Marvin Lewis would not yet give a thumbs up.
But the Bengals and agent David Dunn were expected to hammer it out in time, and SI.com reported that Palmer is most likely to make his second appearance at Paul Brown Stadium in 11 days Thursday in an introductory news conference, and his first as the quarterback of the future.
