ooh, we should stop at the new Wegmans on the way to the game and get the delicious subs from Wegmans. That would really convince Op to come over. :hungry:

sounds good. Hey....how far is the nearest Wegmans from Fed Ex field?

NOT close. There's one in Baltimore- I don't know exactly where it is but it may be the closest one. FedEx is basically due east of downtown DC. The Fairfax Wegmans is basically due west about 25 miles or so- the Loudon one is another 15 miles past that. You'd have to take the Beltway all the way around the city. The new one in Woodbridge is southwest of Fedex- you'd have to take the Beltway to 95 south then it's almost another 20 miles from there.

If you're lucky enough to not hit traffic, the Fairfax or Woodbridge locations are probably a 45-50 minute drive.

we should find one on our way from Valerie's town....right?

OpIv37

from where Valerie lives to the stadium? Not really. I mean, if you take the Beltway south from where Valerie lives into VA then take 66 W you'll be right near the Fairfax one, but 66 W is the wrong way. And if you go that way, you'll have to cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to get to the stadium, and that's usually a nightmare on weekends. Or weekdays. Or weeknights for that matter. You're better off going the other way around the Beltway. Sometimes it backs up after the 270 spur but it usually opens up again past Georgia Ave or Wisconsin Ave.

The Loudon one is actually geographically close to Valerie's. Unfortunately, the Potomac River is in the way and the only way to get there is to either go 20 miles out of the way to get to the Beltway or 20 miles the other way to get to Harper's Ferry and take the ferry.

if you get into FedEx for less than $75 you're doing good, even if it is preseason. I'm actually surprised you guys got in the lower bowl- even end zone- for that price. Snyder does a great job of taking every last penny from the fans here.

bad news on the parking situation:

http://www.redskins.com/docs/FedExFieldMap.pdf

All the lots right up near the stadium are permit only. The cash lots are 1.5-2 miles away and require a shuttle bus to get to the game. The good news is that the shuttle is free for people who pay to park ($6 otherwise).

At this point, my only suggestion is to a) meet in lot 24 or 25 because they're slightly closer or b) see if we can all get passes for the same lot on Craig's list or something.

OpIv37
08-04-2008, 12:09 PM
I just checked Craig's List- there aren't a whole lot of passes available (most are packaged with tickets) and the ones that are available are going for $65. That's a jack even by Redskins standards.

So, my suggestion would be Lot 24 or 25- we can party there then either hike the mile or take the shuttle.

Thoughts?

a mile isn't too far. I'm fine with that. As long as we meet up somewhere ahead of time and drive to the lot together.

Me and whoever I bring will be wanting go come along and tailgate too. So let me know...i was planning on taking the metro in but if I can park at the $6 lot and take a shuttle, I'm cool with that and take the shuttle. Hell, it's about a mile walk from the metro to the stadium anyways. I'd rather drive.

whoa hold on.

The shuttle bus is $6. I don't know how much the lot is but I can guarantee it's more than $6. Probably $25 or $30. If you park in the lot the shuttle is free. If you take the metro the shuttle is $6 (unless you climb in someone's car before they pull into the lot to get a wristband).

well if everyone wants to meet there in the lot, I dont mind paying the 25 or whatever to park there. i'll do that for the convenience...(as limited that is). then we can just tailgate out of my car.

So I just got an email from the Bills Backers group down here and where they would be tailgating if we were interested. Don't know if we want to stay in the Lots or hitch over to the main lots and tailgate with a higher concentration of Bills fans.

Here is the information:

For those of you going to the game, we have a central spot for you all to gather and tailgate as a chapter!!! Fellow Bills Backer Chris will be in Orange Lot
E2 off of Brightstreet Rd. at around 430pm with a group of other Bills fans. I have attached the link for the stadium parking map below. He will have a tent of some sort, tables, grills, coolers and Kan Jam and will be tailgating in front of navy blue Nissan Murano and green "full-size" Ford PickUp. It will be BYO beer and BYO food but should be a great tailgate if everyone meets there to represent the DC Chapter

OpIv37
08-08-2008, 10:30 AM
E2's a pass lot- much closer to the stadium than the cash lot that we're going to be in.

I say we stick with the original plan and meet in lot 24 or 25 (depending on availability) and if people want to head in early and check out the Bills Backers tailgate, we can.
