That is just impossible for a sub 6' DB to defend. I'm in love...

It's awesome, especially when you factor in his height already. We finally have a WR that we can basically just toss it in the air and he'll come down with it.

Michael82
07-27-2008, 09:12 AM
BTW, Justin Jenkins and Josh Reed also showed good leaping ability in that drill.....

That's sick.
If you watch his college highlights he has alot of plays like that and he doesn't even look like he has to try.

It didn't seem like he was trying when he did this drill. He looked like he was just having fun jumping up. The other guys were definitely trying.

I am In lust. His hands must be 10 feet in the air. how many cb's can get up like that

there is only one way to stop hardy from doing that in the endzone.

pass interference.

patmoran2006
07-27-2008, 10:51 AM
Hardy has the knack for making the spectacular catch.

But be prepared to slam your head onto a table now and then.. the knock on him is he drops some easy balls too.

Yasgur's Farm
07-27-2008, 10:59 AM
Where did you get that info from? I seem to remember hearing that he only dropped 2 balls during his entire college career.

Yasgur's Farm
07-27-2008, 11:11 AM
Maybe I'm just confusing him with Limas Sweed or Malcolm Kelly.

Ingtar33
07-27-2008, 11:15 AM
the problem with Hardy is he doesn't run great routs. as a result he doesn't get great separation.

Hands were never the issue.

on the bright side rout running can be fixed.

He's got more than that, kids. No way is that his max vertical. Don't be fooled by the bent knees. He's barely 2 feet off the ground. That's already enough to dunk, but he's got another foot of ups in him.

LtFinFan66
07-27-2008, 01:12 PM
While he looks to have some leaps. I am guessing he is only up 2-2 1/2 feet. I have that much vertical as a 41 year old.

I am sure he is not maxed out there though and I am not knocking him but you guys are going ga-ga over an average leap

TigerJ
07-27-2008, 01:16 PM
James Hardy is in not the tallest receiver in the NFL, one of the top two or three with a measured height at he combine of something like 6'5 5/8" Plaxico Burress and Joe Jurevicius are both listed at 6'5" (as is Hardy). Hardy, however has more speed and athleticism than either of thos two, including a better vertical jump. He will be a different kind of receiver than Randy Moss, who is faster, but among those who are the same type of receiver, Hardy has more upside than any of them.

Add 2 1/2 feet to his height, 6'6. That's 9 feet. Then figure out how high his hands are....another foot or 2. Plus he's only in the beginning of the leap. He added another couple feet to get the ball.

Quit raining on my parade, Op.

LtFinFan66

He is still only jumping that high off the ground. I can get my hands up to 10 feet to catch a pass too. :idunno:

If a 6'0 DB has the same leaping ability, it comes back down to those 5-6 inches of height. Nothing more, nothing less

I am all sunshine Mikey...all the time:up:

what's your vertical leap? His was 37 inches. I'm betting you aren't even close to that. :::

LtFinFan66
07-27-2008, 02:24 PM
Well, I never really had it measured but as a 6'1" white guy who still dunk, it's not too shabby

Yasgur's Farm
07-27-2008, 02:28 PM
66.. Hardy had a 37" vertical jump at his pro day... on the run he could probably get to at least 48". Quick math puts the top of his head at 10'-6"... Fingertips at 12'-6".

That's impressive right there I don't care what team you're a fan of.

That is not the way it works.

The wingspan on a lanky 6'6" guy is a lot longer that of a 6' man with a more normal proportioned body.

Vertical leap being equal, it may translate to well over a 1-foot differential in effective reach.

Which makes it more spectacular. His arms arent fully extended and hes not even jumping that high and is still over the other player. Wait for him to jump as high as he could to catch a pass.

LtFinFan66
