2-27-03 Ran 4.61 in the 40... at 6-foot-2, 264 pounds... worked out at both defensive end and linebacker... working out at the Combine really impressed scouts... and should place him among the Top-25 picks...

10-03-02 Miami senior DE Jerome McDougle finally seems back on track after his stellar performance against Boston College two weeks ago, which included 7 tackles and a pair of sacks... a summer arm injury kept him out of most practices, and he missed the season opener against Florida A&M... since then he had been slow to return to his 2001 form, so fellow senior Cornelius Green was getting the starting nod... at 6-4, 270 pounds he is a full-sized DE with relentless pursuit skills and above-average pass rush potential... he looked upon favorably by most scouts in his area, who see him as a future impact rookie defender in the NFL... still needs to further bulk up in terms of his on-field strength... and will take the long route to the QB at times... has the potential to be Top-15 choice... and plays with a lot of desire/high motor for a player of his skill level...

10-01-02 Miami Hurricanes senior DE Jerome McDougle, a double transfer from Pittsburgh State and Hinds Community College (MS), earned All-Big East and third-team All-American honors as a junior. The brother of current Detroit Lions OT Stockar McDougle, he stands 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, but exhibits exciting quickness off the snap and several potent pass rush moves. He gained valuable experience in matches against All-Big East offensive tackles Bryant McKinnie and Joaquin Gonzalez. In his first Big East season, he recorded 15 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and an amazing 48 quarterback hurries, while also returning an interception for a touchdown against Washinton. While at Hinds CC, he registered 64 tackles, 12 quarterback sacks and recovered three fumbles in 1999 after transferring there from Pittsburgh State (KS), where he did not play as a freshman. McDougle has shown a great work ethic and desire to improve his skills, both on and off the football field. He was more mature than most JC transfers, which should help him challenge for All-American honors as a senior, while potentially being a Top-10 pick in the 2003 draft.

9-6-02 Miami Hurricanes defensive end senior Jerome McDougle, who missed the opener against Florida A&M, is questionable for the game against Florida this week due to his continued struggles with a pectoral muscle injury… coach Larry Coker is being very careful with rushing him back into the lineup

2-25-03 McDougle ran so well that some scouts are envisioning him as a linebacker. He isn't going to be the first round pick that William Joseph is, but he helped himself with his attitude and his apparent excitement about the whole process.

2-22-03 "At the opposite end of the spectrum, somebody definitely has kicked (Miami defensive end) Jerome McDougle in the butt. For a guy who got off to a slow start last year, he's got some pep in his step now, and you feel like, just talking to him, he wants to be good. He still has to get more out of his natural (pass) rush skills. But we like him a whole hell of a lot more now than we did four or five months ago. And he moved really well (Saturday). He ran, like, in the 4.65-4.68 range and you could see how he can explode coming off the edge."

2-21-03 Some of the 3-4 defensive teams have requested that University of Miami end Jerome McDougle also work out at linebacker. "I haven't played that much 'in space,' but I feel I could do it," McDougle said. "If that's what they want, as long as I get to rush the passer, that's fine."

2-15-03 Strength: Speed Lateral movement
Weakness: Size Hands
Assessment: McDougle is one of the best prospects at the defensive end position. Since McDougle played his college ball at Miami (Fla.) it isn’t very surprising that his best asset is his speed. Very fast player with a quick jump off the line of scrimmage that has some power to go with his speed. Works well when going inside or outside and given the fact that his lateral movement is very good he is very hard for lineman to keep in front of them. Will need to use his hands more effectively when trying to create separation at the NFL level and at 6-2 he is on the small side as far as height. Should be taken by the middle of the first round and there are 3-4 teams that have him at the top of their draft boards before the #20 pick.

1-18-03 The DE's were led by Miami's Jerome McDougle(6024, 264), McDougle impressed with a very effective speed rush and was equally impressive with his bull rush. He showed strong hands and moved well laterally. He had good body control and was always keeping his hands active.

1-15-03 “Got off the ball like lightning. His first step is hard to top. He played a little heavier than he’s listed (265) but he could use 10 pounds, you know.”

12-05-02 “The guy who is really turning some heads is Miami DE Jerome McDougle. He’s a player, but he’s not as big as he is listed. They list him at 6-4, 270. He’s not much more than 6-2, but he’s a stud. He can do everything you want him to do off the edge. He’s strong, he’s quick — his hands, his rush moves. Everything you want in a first-rounder.”

1-3-03 You cannot help but love the relentless, high revving playing style of defensive end Jerome McDougle, a tremendous pass rusher who will hear his name called towards the end of round one.

11-08-02 The Hurricanes have three potential initial frame choices up front (William Joseph, Vince Wilfolk, Jerome McDougle) with another, Andrew Williams, working his way into the first day. Neither Wilfolk nor Joseph are having the lights out season many expected and McDougle was hurt early in the year.

9-21-02 quick off the snap with a nice first step and fast off the edge
plays low with leverage and very effective with his hands, using them to keep opponents off him or fighting opposing linemen throughout the play
collapses down the line and effective moving laterally to defend the run or string plays laterally to the flanks
redirects well, displaying a quick and fluid change of direction
absolutely relentless in his pursuit of the action, always looking to get involved a good athlete
lacks functional football strength and easily locked up at the point
Comments: Needs to bulk up a little and play a stronger brand of football but moving up draft boards

9-19-02 Though not presently atop the depth chart, Jerome McDougle is a prime NFL prospect that will hear his called towards the end of round one next April. He's fast, explosive and relentless, possessing a motor that never quits. Flying off the corner and into the quarterbacks face, McDougle also displays the ability to chase down and catch the ball carrier from the backside. Like Walters size is of concern for McDougle but should he add bulk prior to the draft a top 15 selection is possible.

7-10-02 The final potential first round pick of this group, though it would be in the later part of the frame, is Jerome McDougle, an athletic lineman that is quick, fast and absolutely relentless, chasing the action anywhere on the field. McDougle works to defend the run or rush the passer, constantly flying around the ball making plays. Naturally a 250/255-pound player, McDougle does have growth potential but is a little shorter than one would like in a true end. Still, an added 15 pounds and fast times next February will move him up charts.

1-3-03 Wilfork will probably grade out higher than his more heralded defensive linemates DT William Joseph (#94, 6-5, 295) and DE Jerome McDougle (#95, 6-4, 270), both of whom are are also potential top 10 prospects, although each has slipped a bit in scout's eyes of late.

10-23-02 Players like DT William Joseph and DE Jerome McDougle, both of defending national champion Miami, along with massive DT Jimmy Kennedy of Penn State and junior DE DeWayne White have all played like the top 10 prospects they are at times, but at other times have looked somewhat unmotivated.

12-05-02 Jerome McDougle is the best pass-rushing defensive end in the conference and has Hugh Douglas-like talent.

11-06-02 The only player who has lived up to expectations is DE Jerome McDougle, who has played like an All-American. However, he is smaller, stouter and more compact in the Hugh Douglas mold, and rushing the passer has always been his forte.

9-17-02 Jerome McDougle doesn't put up the glamour numbers, the statistics that define a season. But still they get noticed. Just look at his quarterback pressures: He had 40 -- 40! -- last season and six two weeks ago against Florida. They're not sacks, but they're nearly as important. "There are a lot of different ways you can disrupt an offense," Miami defensive coordinator Randy Shannon says. The brother of Detroit Lions offensive tackle Stockar McDougle, Jerome isn't a typical rush end. Jerome is 6-3 and 265 pounds but can play inside or outside and is as fast as any 240-pound rush end. He likely would have been a first-round draft pick last April and will be the No. 1-rated end in the 2003 draft. Now that's a glamour number.

9-1-02 Strengths: Jerome McDougle may be the nation's best pure pass rusher. In his first season with Miami (after transferring from Hinds Junior College), McDougle racked up seven sacks and 48 quarterback hurries for the national champion Hurricanes. He also forced three fumbles, intercepted a pass (which he returned for a touchdown) and recorded 14 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.McDougle has the speed to blow by linemen, but also possesses the strength and agility to work through blocks, making him a productive run stopper, too. Coaches have praised his work ethic and his desire to improve, and at 23, they love McDougle's maturity. And don't forget, last year, McDougle practiced everyday against one of the nation's best offensive lines, giving him the chance to refine his pass rush moves, which some think are among the best in the nation.Areas for Concern: McDougle's only played one year of Division I football, which means he has a ways to go before he's a complete player. On the plus side, people aren't exactly walking in off the street and starting at Miami, so he's obviously already really, really good, but his inexperience would have to rate as a bit of a concern.Of course, three schools in 4 years would also have to rate somewhat high on the concern meter, too, but as we understand it, there's nothing really to be too terribly alarmed about.McDougle originally signed on to play for Pittsburgh State but was unhappy with his lack of playing time as a freshman. He jumped to Hinds Junior College in Mississippi, which is one of the top JUCO programs in the country, and tore that league apart. Shortly thereafter, Miami came calling with a scholarship offer.

8-20-02 Superb natural pass rusher with good size and size potential. JC transfer in 1999 who redshirted his first season with the Canes. Called a scout team "terror" by the UM coaching staff. Splits wide from the defensive tackle to give himself the maximum advantage over the pass blocker. Quick first step and locates the ball well during his initial rush. If it is a pass play, McDougle has a second gear which he uses to sweep past the offensive tackle. However, if he sees that it is a running play, McDougle does a great job of disengaging from the block and pursuing the ball. Doesn't give up contain but will sell out vs. the pass and open up a huge passing lane or avenue for the draw play. Last year was his first for the Canes and all McDougle did was rack up 61 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, and an amazing 48 QB hurries to earn 3rd team All American status. Could easily shoot to the top of this list.

Buddy, trust me... if he hauled in a 7 or a 5 I might care... but what is the ultimate determination is the character. McDougal is a character guy, with a non-stop motor… if we get him I’ll do back flips

to be honest... I'm not sure about that 10... I asked a guy in the office what his score was... Personally I thought it was much lower (7 or 5).
