Me too!

Lets divide Brunners into 2 camps. The dummies like you and I have a positive feeling on the season on one side and the genious well read "realists" that realize how stupid we are and the Bills will be horrible again this season on the other side.

I am going to try and drive up there on saturday with my wife and two children to attend this party. It better be appropriate for a toddler. we'll take care of her but I would expect this party to be an appropriate place to bring my family. It's a very difficult time of year and I will be driving home before the game the next day so I'd say we're about 80% but I really want to come to this party.

I don't need a high chair Jillian sits fine. She also is not going to want to be pushed off into a corner away from the bar. Off to the side a bit is fine but shuffled into the corner where she can't socialize she's not going to be happy and we are going to make a scene.

Jillian's bedtime is 8pm. This past saturday she stayed up for the fireworks though and was up until eleven. There were a few late nights for her this weekend. She did fine. You don't want to destroy their routine that is very important to them but you do want to throw in some changes to help the child learn how to cope with adjustment.

I'm not. The kids want to go to the Brew Pub. It reminds us of the kind of places we have in New England. I also like sitting at the outdoor tables, so I wanna go to Brennan's. I'll most likely show up at this strange place, but I won't stay long. If we don't make it there, it'll mean we're having too much fun or we ran out of money. I'll see a bunch of you at the tailgate anyway.

I need a count to tell the owner.

It will probably be like last year - cover charge and then a few hours of open bar (beer and well drinks only - you pay for shots or top shelf) as well as pizza and wings. Then I'll use that to pay the tab, which will be discounted by the bartenders and owner.

Yes. All they serve is budweiser. And all the food you can eat only applies to the stale peanut bowl.

So don't pay the cover and drink on your own tab... I'm pretty sure Lecter only expects the people that want the open bar to pay that price, though it may be hard to differentiate. All I know is the amount I paid last year was far cheaper than what I would have spent on drinks if I had to pay individually, and I didn't even eat any of the food.

Dozerdog
08-03-2008, 07:19 AM
Do they have napkins?

Not the plain white napkins, but those napkins with trivia questions or jokes on them. Because there was this bar I went to once, they had those napkins. They really come in handy when you are talking to really boring people and need to be distracted.

But then again, if you really have a brilliant idea and need to sketch something out on a napkin, like the cure for cancer or the schematic for a flying car, then those napkins are useless.

Can you ask for a plain napkin if you get a brilliant idea? Do they have pens so you can sketch on the napkins?

What about hand dryers? Do they have those? Does it have instructions on them that say "Push button" but then somebody scratched out some letters with a key and then it says "Push butt**".

What kind of toilet paper do they have? 2 ply? 3-Ply? Or is it the really cheap **** that disintergrates when you wipe. I HATE THOSE! You're wiping and then BOOM! All of a sudden you just gave yourself a prostate exam!

What about hand dryers? Do they have those? Does it have instructions on them that say "Push button" but then somebody scratched out some letters with a key and then it says "Push butt**". I hate that!! I don't even get it!!!! Or do they have paper towels? Is it one of those electronic paper towel dispenser that you have to wave your hands under or is it one one of those with a knob?

Do they have gluten free hamburger buns? I'm not eating- just curious.

Relish? Is it Heinz?

 what an epic burn...

"Is Brunner's a Dive?" is not the way to do it. Having said "I am not going unless it is at the Brew Pub" is not the way to do it.

I really don't know what you were told that makes you think it is any worse for a kid than the Brew Pub or any other bar. It is your typical WNY local corner type of bar. There are never fights there. There are rarely obnoxious out of control people running around.

It is as acceptable for a kid as most bars that I have been in. Is it perfect? Probably not. But there is plenty of room for her and she should not hear or see anything she does not at home or on TV.

I need a count to tell the owner.

It will probably be like last year - cover charge and then a few hours of open bar (beer and well drinks only - you pay for shots or top shelf) as well as pizza and wings. Then I'll use that to pay the tab, which will be discounted by the bartenders and owner.

Date: Saturday September 6
Time 6:30 - ?

This year's Bills Zone Home Opener Party will be held on Saturday Night, September 6. It will be at Brunner's Tavern on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Main St.</st1:address></st1:Street>, near Eggert. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Pizza and Wings will be provided. There will be a $30 cover charge for those over 21 and $15 for those under 21.. This charge will provide you with well drinks and beer (It does not include shots or tips) for 3 hours, from 6:30 - 9:30. (They will run a tab that I will pay at 9:30. The one bartender will make sure I get a deal. Last year I had just enough to cover the bill so it worked then. If the tab is higher than what I took in, I will figure something out. If it is less (unless it is signficant) it will become part of the tip).
<o:p></o:p>
Brunner's is approximately 5-6 miles from the Brew Pub. There are numerous TV's and a dart board. They also have a grill behind the bar that is open at all times. They have burgers, chicken sandwiches, Italian sausage, pre-meal bacon and the best steak sandwich I have ever eaten (ask Meathead for verification). <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Also to note for the out-of-towners; they do not accept credit cards. There is an ATM machine in the bar though.

Let me know if you have any questions.

If you want the time changed, we can modify it to 7 or 7:30.

You two are bolded and the cost info is posted.

You do not get a senior citizen discount, so don't even ask.

I think 7-10 open bar is better, IMHO. Of course it looks like it's going to be an early evening if the open bar stops after only 3 hours.

Stay and drink as long as you like... for $30, the deal that Lecter made is incredible! After 9:30, feel free to buy your own drinks... I doubt most of us (those of us who actually get up early for the game on Sunday) will stay up too super late.

lol I don't think 10:00 is up late. I don't even go to bed at 10pm on work nights.

You can stay up late because you are young and beautiful Valerie.

The rest of us need our beauty sleep.

8 hours isn't going to help some of you, Dr. Lecter. I think a few need to stay in bed for at least 24 hours straight for some much needed "beauty" sleep. :snicker:

Now, what I need to do is remember to call there later today or tomorrow and remind the owner......

I was there until after 1am last year and then had to get up 4.5 hours later to get ready to head to the stadium... not pleasant. I think I'm good with leaving after the open bar portion this time around. Thanks again Doc for hooking up the deal!

The time slot should be fine. I don't remember what time I left last year but I remember not being in tip top shape on Sunday so I'm thinking when the open bar portion is finished I'll head back to the hotel and hang out instead of staying out. I want to save my partying for the actual game.

Lecter... do you have a way to have the bartenders verify we are with the group? I have some tyvek bracelets from an event I did a few years ago... you could hand them out when you receive payment, and tell the bartenders that any keg drink they serve to a "bander" goes on the tab.

I'd hate to pay for someone who isnt with our group
