    Raiders looking to trade up?

Raiders | Looking To Move Up? - from www.KFFL.com
    Thu, 24 Apr 2003 05:17:36 -0700

The Sacramento Bee reports the Oakland Raiders are toying with the idea of moving up in the first round of the NFL Draft. Currently, the Raiders hold the No. 31 and No. 32 picks in the first round. If they stay where they are, they could be forced to pay first-round money to second-round talent, which is something they might not be able to afford.

    Raiders looking higher?

ALAMEDA -- Maybe choosers can be beggars.
The depth-seeking Raiders apparently are not satisfied with having the luxury of two first-round choices among their eight picks in this weekend's seven-round NFL draft.

This is the second consecutive spring Oakland has had an extra top choice as the Raiders bid to balance their ever-aging roster. And they found huge success at numbers 17 and 23 last April, choosing rookie starters Phillip Buchanon and Napoleon Harris, respectively.
But whispers within the league are that the Raiders have spent this week soliciting trades that would promote them from their current place at the bottom of the first round, at numbers 31 and 32.

IF they move up they are rolling huge dice...a major gamble...they need depth and they need players for the cap cut they made/will make...Davis is very desperate to win.
