Here we go. It's now Day 6 of the Buffalo Bills Training Camp. It's the day after the first night practice, so the team had an afternoon practice today and a morning walk-thru. The players worked out in full pads for the third day in a row and there was a some nice hits. They worked on a few special teams drills, including punt returns, blocking and field goals. The team also worked on the individual drills with their own units, 7-on-7 and the 11-on-11 full team drill, as well as some work in the red zone.

Just like last week, the players started out by working with their individual units. Then they worked on some special teams drills. Bobby April had the team practice covering and returning punts. The punt returners would receive a "punt" from the jugs machine and the drill was basically just to help the gunners out. Roscoe Parrish, Leodis McKelvin, and Fred Jackson were the return men. The drill was mainly for the gunners benefit and the punt returns did not go full strength. But there were a couple nice plays by each returner. Roscoe showed off his speed and ability as he ran down the field on a couple returns. McKelvin impressed me when he made a nice cut that avoided his gunners. He later felt a gunner coming his way on another punt return and ducked, the gunner flew right over him. The crowd the cheered for it. Fred Jackson showed some good return ability too as he dodged the gunners.

 no, that's just what they do in the 7-on-7 drill. I think I got another one where they are doing the same thing to JP.

Question..now that I got to read it.
If you think Greer will be the #2 cb, who do you see as #1?

Between Patrick Estes, Matt Murphy and Demetrius Bell is there anyone close to being able pressure Kirk "The Stiff" Chambers for a spot in the absense of Jason Peters?

I'll have to start paying attention to the backups. I watched Murphy a bit and he's very raw, but has a ton of potential.

How does Matt Baker look? All Ive read so far are positive reviews and he seems to make a good connection with Jason Jones. What do you think of these two??

In the little bit of time, he actually gets...I've seen him connect with his receivers. I like what I see.

BUMP.
Thx Mikey!

Does McKelvin look better as a returner that we won't use than as a cornerback? How does Barnes look?
So you think Royal will still be #1? Who's next?
How was Walker at LT?
How was Simpson after the injury scare?

What about WR Jason Jones??

What about WR Jason Jones??
He's getting a lot of action with the 3rd team, but is so far down on the depth chart I don't know how he can make the team. I could definitely see him on the practice squad though.

McKelvin looks really good as a returner. I have a feeling he may get more time at KR than McGee. He will also probably share the PR with Parrish. I watched him a bit at CB and he covered the rookie WR nicely. But then I saw him get burned a little later. He is basically on his 3rd day of camp. All the rest have gone through 6 days. It looks like it, but I do see the potential in there. The problem is that McGee, Greer and James look to solidify the first 3 spots on the Cornerback depth chart.

Barnes has made a couple nice holes for Lynch, but I haven't seen too much of him as they aren't near full contact yet.

Royal will be #1 and I'm thinking Schouman will be #2, but he is going to have to fight with Fine for it.

Walker looked good at LT, a lot better than Chambers did. The only problem is now you have Butler and Chambers on one side of the line and it shows. Very weak. :ill:

Simpson looked good. I watched him a couple times double cover Lee Evans and he was still able to get down the field. He was a little hesitant to cut, but he looked fine.

Thanks, Mike. Glad to see that Fine is getting some reps and catching some passes.

No problem. Yeah I like what I see from Derek Fine. He may be a steal.

I was going to ask about Fine too before I read your report.

I think he's another guy fans are selling short along with Corner.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Hardy will be weak for us between the 20's this season? Not saying he won't improve, but short term

I think he'll be fine. But he's a rookie and right now they are getting him reps with the backup units first.

Plus I've heard he's really starting to step up his route running.
