Damn, this sucks.

According to WGR, Bowen's cleat got caught in the ground as he made a tackle. His knee buckeld and he went down screaming in pain.

Trainers attended to him and he had to be carted off the field.

Let's hope it's not as bad as it sounds. But it sounds bad.

Sounds like he's finished already. that would suck, and perhaps make a need for a backup OLB, and please nobody say TKO, it aint happening.

Since Bowen is a rookie, he can be replaced by another rookie - maybe Marcus Buggs.

Thanks for the report, Sal. It's very unfortunate.

And then be fined for tampering as he's currently signed with the Atlanta Falcons. Also of note Leon Joe is a Detroit Lion so he's also out of the picture if anyone cares.

Russ " Wasssuuup Coy, how's the neck?"

He signed with Atlanta a few weeks ago. We need a LB, not S/LB/ST/Food Service tweener.

**** happens. We can always find a vet backup type on the bubble before the opener.

Isn't #56 now a backup OLB with us getting FA Mitchell? Ellison, forgot his name for a sec...Is it asking to much for him to able to play both's OLB positions? PLUS DiGeorgio is gonna be Mike depth, so why not use him if needed at OLB...

---Curious, was Bowen full of hope/upside? I've been outta the loop since the draft... But IMO LB & esp LB depth is a team strength...

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) -- Buffalo Bills rookie linebacker Alvin Bowen was taken off the field after injuring his right leg during practice. Bowen, the Bills' fifth-round draft pick out of Iowa State, was hurt during 7-on-7 drills while pursuing fullback Jonathan Evans at the left sideline. When Bowen pulled up to avoid contact, his right cleat stuck in the turf and his knee buckled. He was yelling in pain as he was attended to by team trainers. Head Coach Dick Jauron said Bowen is likely done for the season. "We'll wait and see but we anticipate that he won't be playing much football this year, really tough because he's a hard working young man. If it's what we think it is we'll fix it and he'll heel and hopefully play in the future, just tough.'' Selected 147th overall, Bowen was an All-Big 12 Conference first-team selection in both his junior and senior seasons. He led the nation with 155 tackles in 2006 and finished with nine sacks in 46 career games. Bowen is expected to compete for a backup spot in a revamped linebacker corps.

Popped by to say hi when I read this news... I was searching for some Steeler stuff and came upon this info.

I didn't really know who he was so I came over to see...

A rookie trying to make the team. Sad. Especially when it happened on account of his pulling up on a play to not injure someone else.

Hope the rest of camp goes well for you all.

I will pop back by around our PS game with you.

DiGiorgio was getting used to fill in for Kawika Mitchell today. I could see them getting him more OLB reps throughout training camp.
