What's this got to say about who's more accurate?
Can jam before Kan jam
Back when Drew Bledsoe was quarterbacking the Bills he and the backup signal callers participated in a drill in which they stand between the hashes and try to drop fade passes into a double-size garbage can sitting in the corner of the end zone.

Bills quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt was a part of that drill back then and has revived it. Right away a friendly competition between the quarterbacks began.

The target is actually one inverted garbage can with another fused to the top of it sitting upright. So the top of the can is about seven feet high.

Trent Edwardshttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?NEWS_ID=6319#), J.P. Losman and Gibran Hamdan started at the five-yard line, then moved to the 10 and finally the 15. Footballs that glance off the rim of the garbage can are one point while dropping the ball into the can is worth two.

When all was said and done, Losman had the most passes into the can with two, by my count, while Edwards and Hamdan had one apiece. Edwards had a handful of rim shots as did Losman including a seemingly impossible ball that went in and out.

With stationary targets, no coverage and no pressure (kinda like the Bengals game), JP's awesome!

I think he lost because he chose to go for a harder target when if he just dumped the ball off he could of won it.

When garbage cans can enter the backfield or tackle, this will be relevant.

JP's physical skill has never been a question. The way he handles the game mentally is.

Trent checked down to a bucket at the LOS for most of his throws.

JP says it was just like throwing to Peerless,

After being wowed by JP Losman's abilities during "Can Jam," Dick Jauron and Russ Brandon have announced the signing of WR Oscar the Grouch. Grouch is expected to make an immediate impact opposite Lee Evans and should give defenses fits with his sad sack sarcasm and godawful stench.

"Grover never eats all his pancakes and throws them out every Sunday morning. These hands are sticky," Grouch commented.

When asked about the criticism that all his big receiving yardage came when his team was down big and late in the game, he took exception.

""It's garbage time all the time! But I cant help that I live in a garbage can and I have huge, sticky hands. You people just won't leave me alone. So, here I am."

Coach Jauron is equally confident in his new wide receiver. "I fully expect Oscar to come in here and give JP the huge garbage can he's been looking for, but Oscar sometimes needs a little coaxing to open the lid. If he come's open like I think he can, this could be a big year for both of them."

It doesn't help that practically every year he's been here he has had to learn a new offense, same could be said for Trent.

Kordell Stewart could win that type of game all day any day.

he was the best, or at least one of the most accurate QBs in that type of drill I've ever seen, the steelers used to have their QBs toss 30 or 40 yard bombs into garbage cans and stewart rarely missed.

Considering I'm talking about a mediocre QB, take that for what it's worth.

Frankly, i doubt joe montana in his prime could beat anyone at that type of game. he was a notoriously poor practice player, and has complained the worse throws of his career came when he had no pressure and a wide open WR to hit.

it's a trick, not football.

This is a beautifully brief summary of why TE is our starter this year.
Well said, Tiger.

JP would be a good QB if it werent for blitzes. He preforms well in individual drills & 11 on 11 until they pressure him. He makes all the throws.

in the jacksonville game, early on, JP launched a ball as he was falling on his back like 30 yards out of bounds to avoid the sack. it was an incredible showing of his arm strength. However in the same game, he couldn't run a 2 minute drill to win a game and better the team.

JP is tim connolly at this point. He can't stay healthy, isn't as much of an impact as he should be and the team will be better when he leaves. however, we'll keep him this year and pray like we've been doing for the last few years.
