although unlikely, a good Bills scenario..

If Favre is traded to Tampa in the next 24 or so hours, that almost certainly means Jeff Garcia gets cut. If that happens, I would love for Buffalo to sign him.

It serves multiple good purposes to this team in my opinion.
    • He’s a proven vet, with whom Trent Edwards could learn a lot more that he has/will from JP Losman.
    • He’s straight-up better than Losman as a backup.
    • If Edwards goes down, it doesn’t mean our season over.
    • From all accounts I’ve read and here, Losman has pretty much “bagged” it in already this year. He refuses to talk to the media, he doesn’t appear to play with any inspiration, he isn’t an accurate and intelligent QB to begin with, and I did and still feel it’s only a matter of time this year before problems arise in the locker room with him and a member of the team or coaching staff.. He simply doesn’t want to be here if he’s not starting (and he won’t be)

And BTW.. If this were to happen.. I wouldnt dick around with Losman. he has no trade value anyway.. I would simply cut him and his salary and keep Garcia.

This is not a good idea. Garcia wants to be a starter, and I'm sure we'll have many Bills fans calling for Trent's head after the first series of the first game if it goes poorly, and that's not what we need.

Losman has handled everything well, and I don't think he'll be a locker room problem. Where is the evidence that he isn't playing with any inspiration?

I don't think Garcia's going to get the opportunity to be signed as a starter. If he doesn't like the opportunity he woud have in Buffalo to be Edwards' backup, he wouldn't sign, plain and simple. It makes sense for Buffalo to make the offer. Garcia doesn't have much of an arm, but he's mobile and has lots of savvy.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

See Garcia in Cleveland...he'd look about that bad here.

He's a complete WCO QB, any other system and he's simply lost.

i think Buffalo is the best bet for Garcia to play as a starter. What I mean is if the peters holdout extends into the season and TE gets knocked around a lot.

Why would Garcia sign here to back up Edwards when he can just as easily go to, say, Minnesota and start?

                ???

i would thoroughly enjoy if favre bombed in tampa and garcia went to minny and beat the packers. then both sides would lose and it would make me quite happy.

Dude, we've been running an Ethopian Coast offense the past couple years...we're starvin like Marvin for TDs.

Well, on the surface I have no issue with this thought.

However, if Edwards struggles and he probably will at times, we will immediately get the annual controversy started. That has NEVER been a good thing.

I dont know why we have become so unsupporting of our QB's. We act like they have to become solid starters before we can show any faith at all. Thats an oxymoron BTW since faith is a belief in something you havent seen.

Personally Id rather lose a few games due to Edwarsd being out due to injruy and having a so so backup, than win a few of those same games and start a whole new controversy.

This team is going to have to stick it out and develop a stud QB from the inside since they obviously wont get a proven one some other way anymore.
