View Full Version : Jets trade up to No.4 pick overall!!!

The New York Jets have said all along that they would not trade up unless there was a guy available who they absolutely loved. Apparently, love is in the air.

SportsLine.com has learned that the Jets have agreed on a trade with the Bears, sending Chicago the 13th and 22nd selections in the first round in exchange for the fourth overall selection.

The Jets phoned the Saints earlier this week after learning that a trade between the Patriots and Bears for a similar deal seemed dead. It is believed the Jets' coveted man is Kentucky defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson.

The Bears have a few players in the middle of Round 1 they have long targeted and should still be able to get at least one of them with their first of two No. 1s.

The Jets are expected to announce the deal later this afternoon.

ESPN's reporting it now! Apparently they want Robertson, Rogers, or Johnson, whoever falls to them. That's according to Len Pasquarelli on ESPN radio.

i'm not that worried...they only get 1 player instead of 2 now. It's a tradeoff

Mr. Miyagi

At least they will only have one 1st rounder than two.

I hope NE does the same and get only 1.

what??

Who cares!! This is great!

Now they have to pay top 5 pick money to someone who wont make a huge difference.

They could have paid the same money for both of the picks before the trade!

That hurts them, I think

After this if I were TD I would do all I could to get 31 and 32 from Oakland in exchange for the 23rd....:lol!:

The Bears have a boatload of picks. I think they got 4 extra compensatory picks. Wouldn't surprise me if they tried to go back up 5 spaces or so, so that they could take Gross.

I don't get the Jets. They still have a lot of cap room, so they could afford 2 first round picks. And they haven't done much in FA.

I think it's a great move by Chicago.

They can fill 2 holes now, not just 1. This draft is much more even in talent top to bottom.

I hope they get Robertson becasue i guarentee he will be a bust!!

I would be worried if they got Rogers or Johnson though but Rogers is almost a certain to go to Detriot and Johnson to Houston.

Good move for both teams IMHO.

Jets either a WR or DT. Bears get the additional picks they need to rebuild. Bears can get a solid DT at #13 and then grab secondary help at #22

This was a great move for me!!!!!! They trade up for a DT....AJ and Rogers will most likely be gone by then....Robertson isnt worth a 4th pick.

This might be bad for us if the bears end up grabbing a DE that we want... or it could not matter.... or it could be good! I trust TD will do the smart thing, whatever that may be.

So they pretty much traded a 1200 yard reciever and a midfirst rounder for another rookie WR should it be Rogers or Johnson? Doesn't sound like a good trade to me on the Jets end.

They might grab a QB, Grossman or Boller if he's there, or one of the RBs. I think they will grab an S, Polamalu or Doss, or they could get Woolfolk with the later pick.

Why would they take a QB? They've got a pretty good one, who's quite young, in Pendington.

It'll be a WR or DT

Not the Jets the Bears! lol

Hmmm, you think Bill Belichek is getting pissed at his friend, the GM for da Bears? :snicker:

I can now see New England try to trade up with Houston so they can screw over the Jets and take Robertson. :D What do you guys think? :feedback:

Lions | “Signability” Could Factor Into Decision - from www.KFFL.com

Updating previous reports, Mlive.com reports the Detroit Lions might not select Michigan State WR Charles Rogers because they are worried they might not be able to sign him quickly and successfully.

No, the Bears have Ragone targeted in round 2. They will now take both a DE and DT... this isn't good for the Bills. (althought they would probably jump at Boss Bailey if he gets past the Rams...)

No way the Bears take a QB. They just signed Kordell Stewart and wouldn't sign a first rounder QB just to sit on the bench for 2 years. No way.

Oh man, I hope we see TD try to trade up to #12 or #11 or even #13, #14, or #15. Just out of curiousity...what would that cost, Ingtar?

The Bears aren't all that far away from the Bengals in first round disasters, (Conway, Spellman-that bust running back-what's his name). The further back they move, the less likely they are to screw up.
I'm taking the short view. Whomever the Jets take, we don't have to worry about him too much this year. I'll worry next year.

Very solid move by Chicago who can pick up two quality players with the Jets picks. It's a good move for the Bills since the Jets will still have holes after the draft.

No he's not but he's the anwser for the next 2 years. Maybe they'll draft a QB in the later rounds, or in next year's draft, but no way they'll spend 1st round money on a bench warmer for two years.

I think it is a good move by the Bears. They need more than just one player so getting two first round picks helps them in their rebuilding process.
Since NE wants Robertson also this really puts a kink in their plan. Belicheck should learn he should not play poker like TD. He should of just gave up his two first rounders to Chicago but he ot greedy and was burned. If they want to trade up with Houston to get Robertson they might have to give up more than their first two rounders now.

It sure says a lot about NE management since they were beaten out and out foxed by Jets management :snicker:
