No link, but I was watching Mike and the Mad Dog about 40 minutes ago, and Fox Sports' Jay Glazer listed Buffalo, Miami, New England and Minnesota among the suitors for Chadwick.

waiting for JP fans to compare TE and chad's arm strength. Clock is ticking. Perhaps the JP fans are as mentally slow as their favorite QB of all time.

What's so bad about Pennington? JP is not gonna be here next year, and if we don't sign someone, one of our biggest holes next year will be backup QB. If we can get our backup now, it's one less thing we have to worry about next offseason.

I see nothing wrong with signing Pennington to a 4 year contract to be our backup, and then trying to trade JP for draft picks.

As far as backup QBs go, I can't think of a better option than Chad Pennington.

(Assuming Pennington is even willing to accept a job as a backup).

Pennington as a quarterback > Losman as a quarterback.

Pennington's brain > Losman's brain.

If it's possible, get him in as a backup. You want your No. 2 QB to not lose the games for you; well, that pretty well describes Chad. Losman is a failure of epic proportions.

Ultimately, I expect to see Pennington as the Dolphins' starting QB come Week 1 against, of all teams, the Jets.

I have no problem with Chad as a backup. Arm strength is a non factor if your on the bench. I do trust him coming in and winning a game if need be. He would be the perfect teacher to our STARTER Edwards. Pennington is one of the smarter qb's. Has to be with a lack of arm strength.

He has taking a less than spectacular Jets team to the playoffs a number of times. JP.... not so much. Lock him up for 3 years and the backup QB position is solid.

I forgot though. Everybody wants Brady as our backup. Why not Eli, we can get him to backup.

I asked his trade value hours ago, no one defended JP.JP is his own man. He'll be doing the talking while smackin' up second stringers soon enough. If the Bills wanted to get rid of JP, do you not want the Bills to get something? What is your best case scenario?

He'd be an infinitely better, more productive asset during game prep, in practise & on the sidelines than a disgruntled Losman IMO.

One thing for sure is that Pennington could be more valuable to this team then Hamden. He definitly knows the Jets offense and could provide significant insight that could prove helpful late in the season.

Are you kidding?? A journeyman nobody is far better than an old "noodle arm" who has led teams to a playoff.

If the teams physicians and coaches get physicals and CP is healthy he would be a great pick-up at little cost and could really help the team. Contrast to what is being said in this thread he does not have a weak arm if he's healthy. The player can return to form and become very viable and CP would be a good guy to take that chance on. However, my guess is he's washed up which is why Favre got traded today.

Mitchell55
08-08-2008, 12:59 AM
So we could have a DT who played Favre. A former starting QB of the Jets. We should get him. Alot of insite on the Jets. Now all we need is a patriots reciever so we know there Offense. Miami would be a waste. We could give them our play book and we'd still beat them.

We all know Chad has no arm... he also happens to have the highest pass completion percentage in NFL history... JP Losman... well, he doesn't.

Unless we are going with my excellent plan from yesterday to have Losman come in to throw deep balls and Edwards for short patterns, than I see no harm in letting Losman go and bringing Chad in I guess. Losman is as good as gone after this year at any rate and Chad would certainly be an adequate backup. Thing is, I think Chad can still find a starting job somewhere, so we're probably not real high on his list of places he'd like to be.

Pennington would be better suited as a starter somewhere like Miami or Minnesota. I actually like JP better as the bills backup than I would Pennington.

Although a seemingly nice guy and all that, I think Pennington would more likely create a qb controversy if Trent struggles because he can win more consistently in the long run than JP.

Take a gamble and stick with Edwards as the starter. Losman will be a nice spark off the bench if Trent goes down. If this senario plays out, I think the bills will know where they stand at the end of the season in terms of qb play. Whereas a Pennington - Edwards combo could leave the team and fans scratching their heads again as was the case after the Holcomb - Losman auditions.
