he's being a sarcastic ass and creating a caricature of me. So the implication is that anyone who thinks as realistically about the team as I do wouldn't want to go to the games.

What he doesn't understand is that real fans can still like and support the team while acknowledging that it's not very good. My support for the Bills isn't conditional upon them being good- I don't have to pretend the team is better than it is to continue my support.

Ugh, I'd love to go, but I've company coming in this weekend and my wife wouldn't appreciate me leaving so much. Not to mention I can't particularly afford it.
