Your age is showing... you can't really call those "old colors" They mark a 10 year, fairly recent period, in the almost 40 year history of the team.

It looks like a jersey done up in the colors of the multi-national bank that merged with a slightly smaller bank based in NYC that had a large office in Buffalo, the same bank which paid a large sum of money for the naming rights to the arena, all of which conveniently coincided with the establishment of the black and red color scheme. The same bank that canned my dad after 26 years because he was making too much money.

I actually didn't have a problem with the goathead. :up:

I hated the colors, but would have been fine with a blue and gold version of the goathead.

If an NHL team were starting from scratch, the red/black jerseys would have been cool.

But departing from the team's historic colors probably wasn't a good idea.

I don't have a problem with it either. And unless the NHL starts awarding points in the standings based upon the cartoon on teams' sweaters, I don't see myself changing my mind.
