WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Dan Marino heard just about everything before the 1983 NFL Draft. He would be a top-five pick. He would maybe play for his hometown Steelers. He would certainly be among the top two or three quarterbacks taken.
"It was a real emotional day because you don't know where you are exactly going to go, but your dream of being drafted in the NFL is coming true," Marino said. "That's the stress of it. You're stressed even if you are a first-rounder."
Marino said he didn't hear the ugliest rumor floating around that draft day -- that he used drugs.
