Ruben Brown is so confident the Buffalo Bills are ready to contend next season that he's offering to make the team's first-round pick in this weekend's draft.
''I don't think we can go wrong in this draft right here,'' the Bills veteran offensive guard said. ''I think Tom has a pretty easy job. I think he could call me up and I could draft our first-round pick.''
Brown was referring to Bills' president Tom Donahoe, whom he gave high marks to for having already bolstered the team's lineup over the last two months. During that time, the Bills have signed 10 veteran free agents, and acquired tight end Mark Campbell and a first-round draft pick in two separate trades.
Those moves were more than enough for Brown to believe the Bills are in a position to build off last year's encouraging 8-8 finish.
