All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
how can you possibly determine if we made teh right choice unless all things are equal?
first.. johnson signed for next to nothing money.. so it is not like the 49ers overpaid for him..
second.. he has NO quarterback to speak off.. the guy who wins the job their is going to be the guy that sucks less than the other ones.. they are all awful.
third.. it is preseason.. can we at least see how he does in the regular season before making this call.
and i am not even a huge johnson fan.. im just saying be fair..

In hindsight we have a slew of B. Johnson quality receivers on our squad... If signing Johnson meant we wouldn't have drafted Hardy then I am really glad we didn't sign Johnson.
After seeing that no team was willing to give him a rich long term contract, Bryant started looking for a one-year deal so that he could showcase the talents that have allegedly been hidden behind Larry Fitz and Anquan Boldin in Arizona, and THEN cash in with a big long term deal in 2009. San Francisco was apparently the only team that was willing to give it to him, and thus he's there.
Whether or not he turns out to be a good player, I think the general consensus was that the Bills and all the other teams that needed help at receiver were pretty justified in passing on him due to his contractual demands. He wanted more than his limited production justified, and who wants to give a receiver a one yer deal and have to renegotiate this offseason already?
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?
Dont you want to know if we made the right choice?
Even though the season hasn't started yet, I can definitively say that he Bills made the right choice and that BJ made a horrible decision. The 49'ers will be pathetic on offense this year, so any chance of a "showcase" year by BJ, and a blockbuster deal next off-season, won't materialize. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
The Bills OTOH didn't want to pay him the $3-4M a year he wanted, because he hadn't proven he was worth it. I'm glad they stuck with a lowball offer, and that BJ rejected it. Hardy looks like a much better prospect, is younger, and cheaper.
Actually when I read "B Johnson" in the subject line, I thought it was talking about Brad Johnson, who I didn't think the Bills tried to sign, because I forgot all about Bryant Johnson.
