NEW YORK (April 25, 2003) -- One day after his Cincinnati coming-out party and one before the main event, Carson Palmer had his day in the sun.
Posing for photos on the banks of the Hudson River, with the Statue of Liberty in the distant background and a signed six-year contract in hand, the former USC quarterback was a picture in relaxation during a midday media luncheon -- as befitting a player who knows he will be the No. 1 selection in this weekend's NFL Draft .

Does it feel good to have the contract out of the way?
It's great to have it out of the way and not to have to focus on that at all. These other guys don't know where they're going, but I was lucky enough to get the whole thing done with so I know what's going to happen on Draft Day. Wherever I ended up, I was going to be happy, but just knowing that it's out of the way makes this more of a social trip. It definitely takes some of the suspense out of it for me.
