They said he was sick. Died from cancer. They say NFL kept it quiet from the media because thats what Upshaw wanted.

agreed, but you would think more articles would have a report: or something of the sort......

then again, when the sax player from dmb died yesterday i knew about 3 hours before the articles got online sooooo yeah, they want to check resources perhaps>

I guess this is why the player's union was looking at replacements.

this is sad. lots of business questions will come up from this.

1. will the old vets be given a better chance to get more benefits now that Gene has passed on?
2. will this impact the CBA negotiations in either positive or negative light? we all know it runs out next year. who is the next guy in command

Mike Ditka made a big issue out of better benefits for retired veteran football players.

It's always sad when someone dies but man Upshaw was an *******. Hopefully now we can get something done with the CBA and avoid a strike.

He probably ignored the symptoms until they got worse to get medical attention.

Getting diagnosed a week ago for pancreatic cancer.

Word to the people if you feel somethings wrong do get medical attention. The worst thing you can do is put off seeing a doctor.
