1. In the NHL cap there is a window where teams do not have to be under the cap.
2. Teams future salaries must be compliant with THIS years cap.
3. Buffalo better move to quickly use the rest of their "internal cap" or they will lose Pommers.

Move quickly? The season hasn't even started yet.

Do we remembered what happened the last couple of times a player went into the regular season without a new deal...one plays for the Rangers and the other for the Black Hawks.

I'm more than fine with the Blackhawks shelling out that much cash for one as opposed to us, and the other didn't seem to anxious to stick around here anyways.

Pominville will get his deal. They still have another month to finalize it.

Not when they put an offer out and when a price was agreed to nothing was done for weeks.

Either way, it was 2 years ago... Pominville will get his deal.

I will never see the Buffalo Sabres over the salary cap in my life time.

so what do these teams have to do to get under the cap.

Who do they release that the Sabres might want to jump on and add to the roster ?

You will never see any team over the salary cap since it is against the rules. Who cares if they are over now?

Two years ago they were right against the cap. Who do we fault for that?

I'm not going to kill them for not throwing money around. I will kill them for not having the forward thinking of tying up their own FA when they can. I can only say "we'll see if they've learned" so many times. Ryan Miller was a huge step in the right direction, but I won't anoint them a great FO if they fall behind on the Pomminville front.
