Scotty Bowman is a member at the country club I work at and stopped by tonight to end his day with the cup by sharing it with fellow members of the club. Afterward us employees got our moment to pose with Lord Stanley.

(Tried to persuade the keeper of the cup to let us drink out of it but no go...)

Actually, his teams won, just not in the playoffs.

The Crosby jersey I have because I'm an NHL fan and support the well being of the sport. I would have bought a Gretzky jersey back in the day.

Scotty said though I should have worn it when I touched the cup so I could jinx him.

well support the sport by buying more Sabres stuff. Buying the jersey of one of the two guys that even non-hockey fans have heard of (Crosby and Ovechkin) isn't going to do much.

I agree.

Plus I think there should be some kind of rule against wearing a jersey of another team. Those things shouldn't be allowed...EVER.

would you own a Gretzky jersey? I'm not sure if they sold them back in the early 80's but if they did and if the jersey was well taken care of, i'm sure it would be worth quite a bit today.

No, I wouldn't have worn a Gretsky jersey because I've never been a fan of any of the teams he played for. There's no doubt the guy is the greatest ever, but I could never wear another team's jersey.

And if you want to save it so it will go up in value, stop wearing it.

Hell no I hated Gretzky. I had a friend who wore a Gretzky jersey all the time and I always wanted to rip it off of him and wipe my ass with it.

Gretzky imho was a good player and had a good team around him. He was goal hanger for most of the game and scored a lot of goals because of it. If he was the greatest ever he should have won the cup with the Kings. Patrick Roy being in net against them shouldnt be used as an excuse.

Nice pics.

But you should have tucked in your shirt in the photo with you, Scotty, the Cup and the other guy.

Looks like you just rushed out from the mens room.

A goal hanger?

Getztky was by far the best player I have ever seen. And his goal scoring was a small part of that. His passes were incredible.

Saying he was a "good player"???

yea he's alright, I have to clear his table every time he eats at the club. Maybe next time i'll try to get a saliva sample and we can clone him and make the clone a sabres coach.

How many teams did he coach on and what team are you referring to?

He won cups with Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Montreal but also coached the Sabres and didn't win one with Buffalo. He has lived in Buffalo for a long time now. I have seen him several times.

EAST AMHERST, N.Y. -- When the Stanley Cup arrives at Scotty Bowman's comfortable home outside Buffalo, the greatest coach of all time is in the shower after an early-morning round of golf with his son, Stan.

Bowman's wife of 39 years, Suella, is in her work clothes trying to get the backyard ready for guests.

Two of her four grandchildren, Stan's boys Will (named after Grandpa, with whom he shares a birthday) and Camden, are helping with pompoms and teddy bears sporting Detroit Red Wings gear when the Cup rolls around the corner in its distinctive blue carrying case.

And here's the thing about this visit: It's less a momentous occasion than it is the return of an old friend.

Earlier that morning, Walt Neubrand has received the Cup and its case from Hockey Hall of Fame colleague Mike Bolt. In some ways, it's like coming home for Neubrand, too.

So even the greatest coach in the leagues history couldn't win a championship in Buffalo? Anyone ever sit back and wonder if the city is cursed?

I just think it says something about our town if the greatest coach in NHL history, who has lived all across both countries, decides to live in Buffalo.
