All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Does Anyone Consider Dockery A Top 7 OL in the league?
Does Anyone Consider Dockery A Top 7 OL in the league?
Does anyone here consider Derrick Dockery one of the best 7 offensive linemen in the NFL? Well, he should be considering he’s tied with Steve Hutchinson for the 6th highest average yearly salary in the NFL at $7.0-million per year. That is gross.
Re: Does Anyone Consider Dockery A Top 7 OL in the league?
Our ability to draft linemen has been suspect... Occasionally you have to overpay to fill a need.
I am certainly glad we did.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Just because they’re the highest paid doesn’t mean they’re the best and just because they’re one of the best doesn’t mean that they are the highest paid.
It’s how the system works. You want to improve your line, player A is the best guard on the market (an above average guard). You need to show him the money to land him. Sometimes you have to over pay a player in order to make your team better.

BTW.
call me the minority, but I think Dockery is maybe the most overated player on this entire roster. He's above average in pass blocking, and for someone who was supposed to be a road grater in the running game, I see a guy who's very mediocre. In fact, Butler is just as good as him in the blocking game.

Considering how much cap room we have no. Sometimes you gotta pay, you cant keep pro bowlers for 3MILL a season.

Anybody else think that Pat may be cracking under all the pressure of the football season? Bro maybe it's time to back away from the world of football for a few days to get your head straight. You appear to be freaking out over things that you can't control.

Who's freaking out?
I personally think Dockery is extremely overated. He's not even in the same class as Steinbach or Hutch. He's barely better than Brad Butler.
