RAVENS ADD BOUMAN (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/02/ravens-add-bouman/)

A day after ESPN’s (http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/#) Chris Mortensen reported that quarterback Joey Harrington had agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/01/harrington-heads-to-baltimore/), ESPN’s John Clayton reports that quarterback (http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/#) Todd Bouman has agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3565073).
And the reality is that Mort jumped the <STRIKE>guy</STRIKE> gun (oops) on Monday (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/01/harrington-report-premature/) (or, more accurately, his source did . . . and we’ve been there). By late last night, the report was that the Ravens would sign Harrington or Bouman (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/01/harrington-bouman-still-in-mix-for-ravens/).
Bouman, who is 36 years old, has been with five other teams. Most recently, he was released by the Jaguars (http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/#).
If Bouman has not previously received termination pay under the CBA (which is available to a vested veteran who is on the opening day roster and thereafter cut), Bouman could end up with $830,000 for a fairly short stint in Baltimore. There’s a chance that he’ll be cut once Troy Smith and Kyle Boller are able to play. (Boller, however, could end up on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.)
The only good news for the team is that, under the CBA, the actual dollars and the cap dollars incurred will be less than $450,000, regardless of whether Bouman is around for one game or for all 16 of them.
Harrington, as we heard it on Monday, could be visiting another team on Tuesday. We assume that, if he is, it’s on the U.S. side of the Canadian border. But you never know.
interesting to say the least, with both of our QBs known to miss a game or 2 here and there. trent of cource being the "#1" but couldnt hurt to have a vet backup incase we trade JP before the week 6 deadline (conspiracy of cource but odd that now we would be looking at another QB possibly after the big cuts unless we have something working for JP already?) speculation but hope you all enjoy...
