ALLEN PARK, Mich. (April 27, 2003 5:23 p.m. EDT) - Charles Rogers is staying close to home again, and that's just fine with him.
Rogers, who grew up 90 minutes north of Detroit and attended Michigan State in East Lansing, went to the Lions with the second overall pick Saturday in the NFL draft.
"I'm a Michigan homeboy - Saginaw to East Lansing and now East Lansing to Detroit," he said Sunday. "It's great that I will be close to home and to my friends and family. That will give me a great support network."
Rogers' comfort level will be enhanced by working with new receivers coach, Bobby Williams, who was Rogers' coach at Michigan State until he was fired during the 2002 season....more
