View Full Version : Remember those arrogant Seahawks fans from last week?

Well, a lot of this board is acting the same way about the Jaguars.

The facts are that Jacksonville is a good team with a great D that is playing their home opener in hot/humid weather. All of those factors are working against us.

Yes, their OL is banged up to all hell. Yes, our team looked great last week. I will admit that this game looks a lot more winnable now than it did when the schedule first came out.

But nothing is definite. This is still going to be a tough game. Our O will have trouble sustaining drives against their D, which will in turn put pressure on our D. If we lose the TOP battle, the heat will become more and more of a factor as the game wears on.

Again, that's not to say we can't win. But we had one good game at home against an injury depleted team. Jacksonville made the playoffs last year. We're inexperienced- they're a lot more established. We shouldn't be shocked that they're favored by six or guaranteeing victory. One good game from the Bills doesn't change the whole balance of power in the conference. We still have a lot to prove.

I just hope the players are taking Jacksonville a lot more seriously than the posters on this board, especially since this is a conference game that could have playoff implications come December (remember how bad that 3 point loss to Jax in the '04 opener hurt us?).

I forgot to add that Garrard is mobile and mobile QB's always seem to give us fits.

It could go either way, but it's the apex of homerism to be offended by anyone not thinking the Bills will win, like some seem to be.

everyone has those kind of fans. No need to call them out every week. Thank you

At least we have referance. We have a team who played bad versus us, a team that looked great. Seahawks fans were basing it off last year.

I know it is early but this game could have playoff implications because many think the Bills and Jaguars are in the hunt for a wildcard.

I actually agree with Op (shoot me now!). People are way too arrogant after one good (very good) game. The Jaguars are not pushovers.

I do think there is little to no risk that the coaches or players are arrogant. If there is one thing Jauron did do last year, was have the team mentally prepared and was fantastic Monday-Saturday.

But calm down people. It was one game against a team from the weakest division in the NFL.

Let's enjoy that win, but remember the Bills have been average or below average for awhile now.

one week does not dictate a season. we need to sustain the momentum before people get as confident as they've been.

While I agree with the general sentiment, I don't agree with all your logic...

We won't be able to sustain drives against their D? They were ranked 7 last year, Seattle was 9...

They were a playoff team last year? Oh wait, so was Seattle...

We're inexperienced, they're established? I'm pretty sure last week fit that same mold too...

Here's why it's not a cake walk. Jacksonville IS a good team despite last week's loss. The game IS in Jacksonville. The weather MAY be a factor for us.

Op, you know I think you're generally very on point with your analysis, but this looks like one of those times where you are just casting your line out there to fish for anything that can be a negative.

We have a better chance of winning this game than anybody thought we did going into the season, but you're right, this is not a slam dunk by any means.

Jacksonville's D is better to start with and playing at home. Seattle's D was missing 2 starters due to suspension.

And I don't think I was overly negative- I said the game was a lot more winnable than it seemed a few months ago and I didn't say we were definitely going to lose. I'm just complaining about all the people acting like this game's a slam dunk because it's still going to be a challenge.

uhhh, because their D is good- much better than Seattle's. Did you already forget about the slow start our O had last week?

This team has yet to show we that they can beat a quality opponent on the road. Until they do that, I was always have a bad feeling about any game in a playoff team's territory.

they did ok on the road last year, they'll do better this year.

Well if you are going by last year, even though this is a new year.
Jacksonville's overall D was 12th and Seattle's was 15th.
Jacksonville's run D was 11th and Seattle's was 12th.
Jacksonville's pass D was 15th and Seattle's was 19th.

So, the much better may be going a little overboard. Just because they had a good D last year doesn't mean that they didn't give up over 300 yards last week including almost 140 rushing to a team that lost their starting QB and has a rookie RB. They can be run on obviously and they have never seen beast mode.
