    Texans-Ravens game is OFF

Reliant Stadium damaged; won't host Monday game
No decision has been made regarding when or where the Texans-Ravens game will be played
By JOHN McCLAIN Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle

The Houston Texans will not be playing their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night at Reliant Stadium.

The game was supposed to have been played at 7:30 p.m., but Hurricane Ike has caused damage to the stadium that has made it unsuitable for hosting the game.

"The facility will not be usable," said Shey Guinn, president of SMG, the company that manages Reliant Park.

The only solution I can see is moving the game to another city

UTEP has a stadium - not as large but far enough away - San Antonio?

Why would they play it at UTEP when there's the Alamo Dome, Darrell Royal Stadium (UT), and the Super Dome (just a state away)? Makes no sense. All are closer to Houston and are capable of handling an NFL game.

The Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game has been rescheduled to Sunday, Nov. 9 in Houston.

Houston and Cincy were supposed to play that weekend, but since they share a bye, their game was moved to their bye week.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans' home game against the Baltimore Ravens, previously scheduled for Monday night, has been postponed until Nov. 9 because of hurricane-related damage to Reliant Stadium, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

I'm glad we weren't the ones playing the Texans this week, because Baltimore got screwed big time! The NFL was ready to move it to New Orleans or some other neutral site, but the Houston Texans team refused to do that. So Baltimore was forced to change the game and now basically have no bye week. Both teams will now play 15 games in a row. How hard would it have been for the NFL to make Houston and Baltimore play in NO on Monday or even Tuesday night? Or hell....Tuesday night...have it in Dallas! Either way....this is a horrible plan. You are now moving 2 different games and 3 different bye weeks, and basically eliminating a bye week for 2 teams.

Mine too. I had Matt Schaub starting on one team...the one without Tom Brady. I also had Andrew Johnson on two teams. WTF!

Oh and I know some of you will rip me for not being politically correct, but it's just MO. The truth is....Everyone has known about this hurricane headed for the Houston area for a week now. They had plenty of time to move it to another location and collect money for the victims with the ticket sales.....but they chose to wait until the last minute and do it half ass backwards by only moving it to Monday night. They should have known that the Stadium roof was cheap and would tear apart, just like the Superdome.
