BEREA, Ohio -- The Browns have drafted yet another running back, but don't expect to see him in uniform until 2004.

Cleveland took speedy Lee Suggs of Virginia Tech in the fourth round of the NFL draft Sunday knowing that he must undergo shoulder surgery and likely will miss the entire season.

"It's not too different than maybe what the Buffalo Bills did with Willis McGahee," Browns coach Butch Davis. "Certainly, two years ago, Lee Suggs was one of the premier running backs in the entire country."

By taking Suggs, Davis has selected a running back in each of the last three drafts, taking William Green with the 16th pick last year and James Jackson in the third round of 2001.

Suggs partially tore his rotator cuff while lifting weights in January. He also has a history of knee injuries.
