Rank | Team | Record | Prv. | Comment |
1. | Dallas Cowboys | 2-0 | 1 | With another major test awaiting them in Green Bay, the Cowboys don't have much time to catch their breath after Monday night's track meet. |
2. | New York Giants | 2-0 | 2 | The Giants get to feast on yet another weaker opponent when the Bengals visit. |
3. | Green Bay Packers | 2-0 | 3 | Again: Brett who? |
4. | Carolina Panthers | 2-0 | 4 | The Panthers found a way to survive Steve Smith's two-game suspension. Now, they're positioned to be a real factor in the NFC. |
5. | Buffalo Bills | 2-0 | 8 | With their next two games against Oakland and St. Louis, the Bills can realistically ponder being 4-0. |
6. | Pittsburgh Steelers | 2-0 | 10 | It took everything the Steelers had to beat the Browns. It will take much more to knock off the Eagles. |
7. | Indianapolis Colts | 1-1 | 7 | Rallying to beat the Vikings was a big step in the right direction, but the Colts will have their hands full vs. the desperate and angry Jaguars. |
8. | Denver Broncos | 2-0 | 12 | After stealing one vs. the Chargers, the Broncos have another big challenge vs. the Saints. |
9. | Tennessee Titans | 2-0 | -- | You have to be impressed with what Kerry Collins has done to help keep the Titans calm through the Vince Young storm of controversy. |
10. | New Orleans Saints | 1-1 | 9 | The Saints had better recover quickly from their offensive stumble at Washington because the high-scoring Broncos are next. |
11. | Philadelphia Eagles | 1-1 | 11 | The Eagles proved they'll likely be in the hunt for the NFC East crown until the very end of the season, when they get another crack at the Cowboys. |
12. | Arizona Cardinals | 2-0 | -- | Kurt Warner is back to "Greatest Show on Turf" form. |

Originally posted by cocamideI think these rankings are crazy. New England isn't even in there.
Really, why should NE be in there?...they beat (not by a lot) on two teams who are not strong per se. Power rankings should not be based on previous seasons successes/failures. I think the Bills at 5 may be high though. Bills I would think should be between 6-10

Re: Vic Carucci's weekly rankings
What's with the NE love?
They beat the Chiefs and Jets, two basement dwellers last year, and albeit by very little, and we've beaten two ex-playoff teams, one that has been to the playoffs for several years now. We also beat the Jaguars IN Jacksonville.
The Steelers beat the Texans and Browns.
Denver beat Oakland and should've lost to San Diego.
Eagles beat the Rams and lost to the Cowboys.
Giants and Cowboys at one and two, I completely agree with.
If Power Rankings were based on past years, then hell yeah, the Bills should be around 5 with the early 90's teams, right?
What's past it past. Power Rankings are for this year, not what happened last year.
PS. Has anyone noticed who the top AFC team is?Bye Bye Brady...
