I am sure they explained this on the broadcast, but i didn't have sound. Was there a strategic point or was it just so hot that jackson laid down? Your help is appreciated.

Fred Jackson explained it on WGR this morning. It was something Bobby April told him to do to just see if they could confuse the Jags special teams. Dont know if it accomplished anything at all.

it is so the kicker can aim or use him as a target. Very god move, but don't think it works at the pro level

i figured maybe it was to make them think they'd kick it to the other side thinking that the other returner would have to sprint over there and that they could lollygag down there.

the problem with the other returner playing on the sideline, it makes you look down field even more. if he was in the middle, you'd probably just kick and not look around.

I'd love to hear a more detailed explanation from April after the season.

He told them from LAST MONDAY to watch the onside kick. He told them before the kick to watch the onside kick. They didn't watch. To me, that sounds like they didn't listen to him, not him forgetting to account for that.

Lying down on job

Several fans have wondered why Fred Jackson was face down on the ground before a couple kickoffs in Jacksonville. He said it was a ploy cooked up by special teams coach Bobby April to try to cause a few of the Jaguars coverage men to lose their focus.

Said Jackson: "We were just trying to get any advantage we could. I was laying down to see if I could distract some of the Jaguar players when they were coming down and get them to focus on me instead of T [Terrence McGee] returning the kick. It was just a little distraction to see if I could distract somebody. I think it worked for the most part. I think I got two or three guys watching me instead of paying attention to T."
