CINCINNATI -- Backup quarterback Joe Germaine was waived by the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, leaving the team with three quarterbacks on the roster.
The remaining QBs are starter Jon Kitna, backup Akili Smith, and Carson Palmer, whom the Bengals signed last week and picked No. 1 overall in the draft.
Germaine was with the Bengals for part of the 2002 season, but did not play.
He was signed to the Cincinnati practice squad Oct. 16 and was activated to the 53-player roster for the final three games. The former Ohio State star was previously with St. Louis and Kansas City.
