All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
We cannot be knocked out of first place in the AFC east next week..
We cannot be knocked out of first place in the AFC east next week..
Even if NE was playing and won, we would still have no divisional or conference losses and would therefore still be in first by tie-breaker status. It's not like we shouldn't beat the Rams but I'm just saying that we're holding this spot for several weeks at least.
Re: We cannot be knocked out of first place in the AFC east next week..
If the Bills win this Sunday, then they will be in first place in the AFC East through the bye week, regardless of what happens against Arizona.
It is still early and where you finish the season is a whole lot more important than where you are at any other point during the season, but the Bills' schedule looks a lot tougher at the end than at the beginning and they want to get as many wins "in the bank" as they can now in order to be in a good position to make the playoffs and perhaps even win the division later on.
It is still going to take 10-11 wins to nail down a playoff berth in the AFC and probably at least 11-12 to win the AFC East. Division games in the AFC East are never easy, no matter how bad anyone's record is, and, by the time the Bills start to play Miami, New England and the Jets, all of those teams are likely to be playing a lot better football than they are now--especially the Pats and Jets, where they have new QBs playing this year who have lot of talent around them and are only going to get more comfortable leading their offenses as the season progresses.
Winning one or both of these next two games could be critical to the Bills prospects this season. Both are on the road and winning on the road is never an easy proposition in the NFL.
I know the Rams have been bad so far this season and their coach's job may be on the line. But, Oakland was kind of in the same situation and gave the Bills quite a tussle in Buffalo. Like the Raiders, the Rams have some talent, especially on offense, and, at this point, you don't really know how hard that team will decide to play for its coach on Sunday. Being at home, in a dome, where it could get loud if they get off to a good start in the game, the Rams could make things tough for the Bills if they decide to make a game of it.
So, no matter how bad they have been so far, the Bills can't take the Rams lightly. The Bills need to bring their "A" game, get the Rams down and keep them there because they need this game. Win it and they will be in pretty good shape going into Arizona the following week and their bye week after that.
Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. And, thus it was that they surrendered their freedom; not with a bang, but without even a whimper.

tough to have a loss when you haven't played a divisional game
By your team winning against NE, it opened up the scenario that if we split with them and sweep both you (like the past several years) and the jets, we get all the tie-breakers. The Bills would be 5-1 in the division at that point. I know it's early but locking in the divisional ties would go along way towards securing a playoff spot.
You can argue that the Jets / Miami aren't going to be swept but I see them as beatable opponents a majority of the times we play.

Yes, it helps that NE & MIA have their bye, followed by the Jets bye. I'm just glad the Bills backers get the bar all to themselves again.
I didn't come here to fight, I hate fighting. Life is way too short to spend it on fighting! Go fight with yourself, one of you will eventually win!
